Well no shipped confirmation for me and its 19.30pm which is way beyond their despatch time, so I can only assume I wasnt lucky enough to nab one today.

Hate the fact some are selling shipped cards on eBay already :(

I was one of the lucky ones and somehow got an order in which has since shipped! I can assure you that mine will happily be installed into my pc once it arrives. It is sad to see people asking £2500 for a card on eBay. Worrying thing is there probably will be one or two people who will buy them at that price if money is no object to them.

@ASUS GPU Support

Could you confirm the difference between the Strix and Strix OC models?

From ASUS's site:

Strix model:
OC Mode - 1725 MHz (Boost Clock)
Gaming Mode - 1695 MHz (Boost Clock)

Strix OC model:
OC Mode - 1890 MHz (Boost Clock)
Gaming Mode - 1860 MHz (Boost Clock)

Given the way boost clock works, I expect gap will be smaller in both modes, but the OC model may boost slightly higher overall.

Clearly Palit are the unfashionable brand. My order went in at 14:11:29 and DPD have just told me they're intending to deliver tomorrow.

I'd like to know if they have the same bin and power draw

Ahhh. Don't think they would reveal though if there is a binning difference, seen question asked in various guise over the years and not seen anything. For small price delta between OC and Non-OC your just paying for the OC out the box which I imagine the Non-OC model when tweaked can achieve anyways. Be happy to be proven wrong in my assumptions though.

This matches my understanding. Everything I’ve read and watched said there is no binning difference. They are the same card, only the OC version comes overclocked out of the box and like you say, the non OC version can achieve the same clocks but you’ll need to tinker with it more yourself. I picked the non-OC version because I’m all about the tinkering! To me not a premium worth paying as I know I can achieve better results myself.

Nice! Which version did you go for?

My Palit order was a whole one second before yours but I went for the OC version.

From what I've seen the only difference is the clock out the box. Even with higher priced cards they don't tend to bin between them unless looking at kingpin type range. It is just that sometimes they have a better cooler so often clock better due to that or higher voltage between different cards from the same manufacturer.

But as for the "OC" versions of the card..never heard of it being any difference but the out the box clock.

Genuine question, why are people spending so much money for such a little performance increase over the 3080? I'd like to understand people's motives as you're spending an entire builds worth of money+ on a single component.

Please let me know.
Since you asked: I tried to get a 3080 for my new build, but I don’t fancy waiting 2-3 months for it to arrive. So I went for a 3090. Did I overpay? Probably, yes, and lots of people will think that my motive is lame. Do I care? Not really - I can afford it and I probably won’t upgrade for another 4 or 5 years.
