for those off you curios....... They overclock well. Working on a non synthetic BM clock
I've done a test to see if I can get my Palit to CTD like people are having with other manufactures but I can't get it to over 2,000 Mhz, It's almost like it has been hard locked to stay below that speed.

I tested Time Spy, Heaven and Red Dead 2 to see if I could re-create the issue.

I've moved the power slider to 109% (max) which also increases the temp limit from 83c to 91c and I've maxed out the fan RPM (loud with this maxed but keeps temps below 65c). Then no matter what I do it never boosts above 1995 Mhz. If I don't touch the clock speed it will boost to 1980 Mhz. If I up the clock speed +10, +25, +40 it never boosts above 1995 Mhz and the temp never goes above 65c.

There is no point clocking my card, as 100% fan is nasty and for that small increase it's not worth it. At stock the fan has not gone over 66% so it's not loud and the temps stay below 75c. Max boost when stock is 1950 so it's safe to assume that I won't be having the problems others are having with some of the manufactures.

i have a palit and i got this in synthetic so far.

Had this beautiful ASUS TUF 3080 this morning! (not from OcUK though, managed to nab it elsewhere yesterday) ;)

Had a good session back on HZD and SOTR earlier, 68-70c load temps. Fan is really quiet even on performance mode too! Really impressed with ASUS on this card all-round.

Seems to boost on average to ~1950MHz @ stock. Reaching 100fps+ with everything cranked up @ 1440p, loving the experience and visual fidelity of these games. :D

Just ordered some custom braided PSU cables now, to make it look a lot neater. I ran the 2nd PCI-E cable but now I have the 2 splitter 8-pins hanging which isn't good. Been after a set anyway, so this just spurred me to get a kit ordered. :)

Added some extra photos below too in the spoiler tag, after getting it installed.

When I overclocked I got 18250 with my MSI Ventus: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/50813887?. In my day to day configuration running +0 on core and +500 on memory with my custom fan curve I get 17626: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/14158434.

I suspect my scores will be a chunk lower as I'm only running a 3600X... :p

But here are mine with a bit of an overclock... 117% power limit, +100MHz Core and +850MHz Memory. :)

There doesn't look too be much in it when you look at the gpu scores for timespy, I wonder if the difference in temp has more of a baring on things, when looking at the difference in our clock speeds

Either way, mines all back at stock and is plenty quick enough. I've not had a single crash in any games I've tried, or with the 117% power and +50 core overclock taking it over 2000mhz. It even boosts over 2000 itself at stock in some titles, like assassins creed I posted above.

My Palit 3080 fans seem to spin up from 0% to 30% whenever I open an application in Windows. Any application, not doing anything that's using the GPU. Any idea why it's doing that?

Opening an app means redrawing the screen, not much work for a GPU but it is still doing something.

You may want to look at doing a custom fan profile.

Yeah I had a look at doing a custom profile in Afterburner. It doesn't seem to let me ever have it running below 30%.

Well, screw you mr stroppy msi afterburner author !
The Thundermaster software will allow a custom profile and will let the fan stop below a set temperature on my card, yay :)
It is a bit clunky, there are only 2 points you can set and fans jump up only when hitting temp, not a gradual ramp up, but it proves it is possible and proves afterburner is not working correctly

I wonder if it is something to do with the 2 fans, AB shows 2 fans but you can only alter 1, TM shows 2 and you can alter both.

I tried Thundermaster, but for some reason whenever I click away from the fan duty page and go back it seems to have reverted back to auto. Am I being really stupid and missing a save/apply button somewhere?
