Hi,
I know the best 3090 is the one you have in your case but I was wondering what other people's thoughts on 3090 FE vs Asus Strix 3090 are?
I have Strix OC on pre-order with my local, big retailer and I am early in the queue (probably below 10th place) but it looks like I will be waiting until November/December to get it. I started monitoring Nvidia's website for FE stock again. Cost aside, which one do you think is the better card (though the price does play a role too)?
For me these are the advantages and disadvantages of each:
FE:
+ nice design
+ probably better silicon
+ with mods (potentially) up to 648W power limit (theoretical 12-pin max power)
+ seems like the cooler provides better cooling than the Strix
+ cheaper
- 12 pin in the middle of the card
- warranty not transferrable
- worse resell value
- cramped PCB (higher component temps - e.g. memory )
Asus Strix:
+ up to 480W power limit on stock
+ better stock clocks
+ standard 3x8 PIN
+ better resell value
+ you can still try and have it fixed under warranty as the 2nd owner
- potentially worse silicon
- pricier
- worse GPU cooling (but potentially better for other components)
Just wondering if I should jump on FE if I see it or wait for Asus (I know I'm dreaming anyway). Strix cards, both 3080 and 3090, seem to be very popular here.
