Anyone been to Ikea recently?

Cheers guys!
I went a few weeks back, it was mainly at the tills where it was rammed, this was a weekday evening.
As for mattresses, we have the hamarvik(sp?) and would recommend it.

That's actually one that I was looking at. I'm looking for a proper firm one, my back is ****** from 10 years of Nursing and need firm otherwise wake up in so much pain. Cheers for any advice!

I find any home/DIY/etc place are rammed at weekends, way more than before. Usually 1-2 people at the till and a mile long queue.

I went to IKEA Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday afternoon. There wasn’t any queues either to park or get in.

If you wanted to go to the restaurant you had to reserve a time slot, this was done prior to entering the store by a staff member who was taking reservations outside at the main door.

There was plenty of hand sanitiser stations all over the store. Only one person or family group allowed in the lift or showroom room sets at a time.

The queues for the tills where absolutely fine and well managed with social distancing.

It’s the same rules as always with IKEA just avoid going at peak times and it’s a far more enjoyable shopping experience.

GF and I were going to the Croydon one 2 weeks ago, walked up and as expected the queue to get in looked to be about 60-90 mins or more so we noped right out of there.

Went to ikea lakeside yesterday. No queue for shop. usual standard of driving in the carpark 300 point turns in huge 4x4s etc meant a huge traffic jam to get in to the carpark. But once in found a space straight away and walked in.

I want to go for a Markus chair, nope, completely sold out.

:(

That's everyone WFH for you, i suspect desks will have been in high demand too.

I went on a Sunday to the one in Warrington to buy a chair and there were people waiting for car park spaces, the queue was very long and no one looked happy. Turned round and went home and ended up buying the same type of chair on Facebook marketplace an hour later. Not helpful for the in store experience but I wouldn't be surprised if its still a nightmare to get in.

It doesn't help at the Warrington store where they've sacrificed probably 150-200 parking bays to make an outdoor queuing system, so that'll make it a challenge to get a parking space.

We last went there on late August bank holiday, not expecting it to be too busy and thinking most people will have had better things to do enjoying the weather, but how wrong were we. After parking and seeing what looked to be a 90 minute queue to get in, we jumped straight back in the car and drove home.

Mine wasn't the crowds, it was the layout, was like a maze, made to go round and round and round :S

I think that's just Ikea in general :D - nothing to do with covid precautions.

I have no idea on testing stuff as when we went there there was an hour long line out the door to get in.

The Bristol one has been super easy to visit. Never had to queue to get in.

Annoyingly most the bits we want are on availability though!

Went sat late afternoon to MK one. Biiig queue, carpark rammed as the underground is staff only and used for the public to queue
Too late for the food as well, grrr

We ended up at the start of the queue (has traffic lights to get in) and got talking to the guy there, he said its rammed constantly at weekends, but much quieter in the week

Im after a Markus as well, stock is 7-14 days pretty much but sells out fast with all the WFH people wanting a chair

Getting the grey material one, far nicer than the leather, I hate leather in cars, in offices etc, seems to be perceived as some kind of luxury material, maybe 30 years ago, now its just meh unless your buying a bentley or something which will have some decent stuff in it ;)

Once you in its business as usual though, everyone dawdling along, ignoring the arrows, ignoring the notices of 1 person per display max etc
I deffo wouldn't go if you are worried about covid. If you dont care then actually once your in there are less people than a typical weekend since thats what they are limiting.

TBh we used to go Friday nights and we will definately be going back to that
Ended up buying two big bags of the meat balls and some gravy and sauce and made them when we got home with some french fries out of the freezer. The balls are actually quite reasonably priced frozen

Went to the Warrington store a few weeks back on a Sunday. Got there early about 10:30 before the 11am opening and was 5th in the queue. Let in at 11:30 for some reason. Walked all the way through to the end where i needed to collect my items from storage racks. Paid and out within 20 mins.
Came back out and the queue was huge. All the way around the side of the store and across the car park. Must have been approx. 300 plus :D
