Hmmm. Was about to pat myself on the back for my first build. Spent best part of the day assembling. Plugged in, Mobo illuminated. Pressed on button, fans spun, lit up, then nothing. Lights off, nothing. I’ve checked plug fuse, rechecked my connections which I’d already double checked.... help appreciated.

Corsair rm750
ROG strix b550f
WD m2 SN550
Corsair vengeance ram
AMD 3 3100 processor (until new ones out)
Old gigabyte 1030 gpu (until new ones out)
Deep cool matrexx 50 case.

Good as gold. Were seated well but rechecked. Nice positive seating/click. Strange how there is nothing now. As soon as I first plugged in the mobo lit up. Now not a sausage.

Sounds PSU related but I may be wrong, do you have a spare PSU you could try? Did you assemble outside the case as it could be shorting out somewhere

I put the leads in outside. I have my own pc upstairs with a decent psu. Looks like a swap out is the first port of call then.
I would try a minimal setup - unplug all none essential devices, with only 1 stick of memory (rotate sticks if necessary) - even pull out the front header panel cables (short the power pins to start PC with a screwdriver) before unplugging your own PC.

Ideally you would breadbaord the system, with a minimum setup, outside of the case but this would be a start.

How old is the 1030 - and has it been tested recently in another PC recently if it's been benched?

*Clear the CMOS for good measure, too.

I shall be trying as you say first. Just taken the side panel of my pc upstairs and it is not a modular PSU. Would be a killer taking that apart.

Yeah try clear the CMOS on the mobo

Make sure mobo is on stand offs correctly in the case

Check PSU is securely seated and cables connected etc

Replied to you in the original thread, on hand if you need help ASAP. Activate your trust and message me if you want. :)

This is the best/generous option - spray him with disinfectant and @Journey will be able to whittle through all the obvious troubleshooting methods before you've had time to find a suitable screwdriver and the right pins on the front header or the CMOS.

*Or hotwire a PSU for signs of life - you can use a paperclip.

Same applies. Remember you are dealing with a complete idiot!

Cheers. Just trying some of the other suggestions
Try the PSU test first - Google PSU paper clip test.

You clear the CMOS by bridging the CLRTC pins situated at the bottom of the board with a screwdriver - but be sure to unplug PSU and press the case button to deplete all residual power first.

You can jump start the PC by doing something similar with the PWRBTN and GND pins via the Front Panel Header - again can be found at the bottom of the motherboard.
