rtx 3080 20gb coming Dec

RTX IO / Direct Storage is to simply increase the transfer rates from disk to GPU because the consoles are going to be streaming data at a far higher rate than current PC architectures can achieve.

That's why RTX IO / DirectStorage exist because Microsoft/Nvidia/AMD know that with out something new to facilitate these faster speeds the PC as a gaming platform would become inferior to the consoles.

if anyone thinks they'll get a 20gb sub £1k they are dreaming. The prices of the 3070 and 10gb 3080 have already jumped. The £650 cards are now £720+

With the gold price (soon inflation) sky rocketing on the back of government 'stimulus' in a year it may be a lot higher than £720.

never seen one available for £650 tbh, the FE doesn’t count as that was never really available.

Everyone’s only comparing the memory difference between the 3080 and 3090 and expecting a 3080 with nearly the same memory as a 3090 to be near the same price, they aren’t the same card though... the 3090 is a Titan in essence so will always have a stupid price tag for the relatively small performance gain. If they are purely just dumping some more memory on the 3080 I can’t see it being 1.2k for instance and probably perform the same in most benchmarks. If an average third party 3080 is around £750 I would expect the 20GB version to be around £900 perhaps? I do however still want the 20GB version if I’m spending best part of 1k to use a card for 3/4 years

The Asus 3080 20gb was leaked as being $999. I would imagine other AIB cards to be $899 or less then.

Of course you cant buy a 10Gb for under the list price of £650 atm so I would expect some gouging if in short supply until xmas.

But after that you should be able to buy a 20Gb 3080 for the same money as some people paid for their 10gb 3080.

You must be new? The asus tuf and the eagle started at £649 before retailers started raising prices.

Indeed some of the low end AIB actually had MSRP of under £649, cheapest I saw was £589. Those are now listed as being close to £700 now.

its got nothing to do with that..vram is expensive..thats why the 3090 was so pricy compered to the 3080. the 20gb will be no different. its prob going to be around £1200 for just a FE card. aftermarket ones like asus and gigabyte are going to be a lot more..prob as much as £1400 if not more for one of the top tier aftermarket cards.

I am sure I read somewhere that Nvidia isnt doing a 20Gb FE card, its only AIBs doing that.

Where did yuou see a 3080 for £589? That sounds like someone forgot to add VAT.

The ASUS TUF 3080 OC was £699 when I ordered and the TUF seems to be the best card so far.

New to what? Reading prices of cards listed to purchase on websites? I didn’t see anything listed to purchase for £649, prices before launch are irrelevant as they were all over the place as are MSRP’s if no ones actually selling them for that.

Plenty of people pre ordered a few different cards for £649, just because you didn’t see them doesn’t mean they didn’t exist

I don't think this is the case. Nvidia said themselves the reason why the 3080 has 10GB is because GDDR6X is expensive and 10GB is the sweet spot between enough vram and price so a 20GB card will be considerably more expensive.

"Even if this does happen, there are a couple of further points to bear in mind. Remember that loading the card up with much more GDDR6X will increase the cost considerably, and the RTX 3080 is pricey enough as it is – particularly with third-party GPUs – which is why Nvidia elected to run with 10GB of VRAM in the first place.

This was determined to be the sweet spot in terms of price/performance, and it’s certainly true that the RTX 3080 offers a lot of power for the money. Nvidia also argued that 10GB is sufficient after “analyzing memory requirements of the latest games”, but there are still quite a few folks who were disappointed by this decision."

List prices before launch liek the KFA and some cheapo blower card. Didnt matter as they all went due to shortages.

TUF was a bargain and best of the AIB for bang for buck. Even those were meant to be £649 at launch though.

the extra memory is just $150 and yes it is expensive.. Add a bit more for building them etc and they really should be no more than $200 more than 10Gb cards are. So $850 to $1000 should be the price range of them. No reason for them to be any more

Can I please urge everyong who has a 10GB ASUS TUF 3080 OC on order with a queue position below 166 to cancel ASAP.

10GB is not enough!

YOU MUST CANCEL!

:D
Why is it not enough? Just curious since I am wanting to buy a custom build with the 3080 in.

Yup. That's exactly what I have said in other threads. But the reason for my post is you said they would cost the same as the 10GB versions.

I paid £689. No 20GB 3080 is gonna cost £689.

well nvidia are doing another anounment at the end of this month. so i would asume that they will be dropping a FE. but if they dont ..i still think the price will be around that mark. i highl doubt its going to be under 1k even for a low tier card.

I saw lots to be honest I ordered one, say at least 4 or 5 at 649.99 at launch, as for the 20gb I imagine it will be 859/899 FE and above.
