Intel were charging big premium just because they were faster at gaming.
So now AMD are faster at absolutely everything a £50 bump is unacceptable
Don't forget the 3000s still exists and still offers good bang for buck. Especially when they start dropping in price.

The 12 core is £550, the same price as the 10900K and will be at least as good at 1080P gaming, and a lot better at everything else and less than half the power consumption.

And AMD are the criminals, not Intel.
As I said to easy, the 12c is not the problem...

People are bemoaning the lack of a 5700X and a 5600, plus the $50 bump, and all you guys do is say how great the 5900X is compared to Intel :p

That's nice and all, but it doesn't help the people who aren't looking for a 12c :p

IF, not when.

You really should, to remain competitive costs money.
The best way to be competitive is to release products people want at a price people want to pay ...

If you're saying AMD need to gouge to exist and therefore we should all support AMD when they gouge, then I've got some magic beans I'd like to sell you..

Yeah, 3000 chips haven’t got any less attractive.

You can buy a solid B550 for £130....

You can buy a 5800x for £429

That’s £559 just £59 more than the cost of a 9900k on launch...
Some people are just completely delusional. There have always been stupidly expensive motherboards, I don't know why they're suddenly taking issue now and acting like the stupidly expensive ones are now the only option.

Except they too have been rising in price. And they will probably keep rising now the 5000 series has pushed the prices across the stack upwards. As well as not replaced the best value SKUs.

3000 series esp the 3600 and 3700X will probably go up a bit more.

You're probably being the most childish here, tbh. Previously telling people to "stop being poor", and nonsense like the above.

Nice to see people showing their true colours. The smugness of the AMD devotees is palpable.

I'm saying AMD have better CPU's than Intel while still being cheaper, even with the price hike, its the price hike you have a problem with because you just want cheap CPU's.

So do i but i'm not going to cry because Heinz are cheaper than Tesco Own Brand but not as cheap as i would like it. Pay more for Tesco's crap. Go for it....

It was a bit of fun...You know I don’t care who makes what....I’ll buy the fastest for my buck...I’ve had millions of Intel and Amd chips over the years so chill out....

I bought a 9900k then sold it for a 3900x gained 4 cores and saved some money...The 3900x has been the best chip I’ve owned...it really is a true classic...just like the Intel Q6600 was...

The 5900x is just dreamy :D

Were the 3000 series "cheap"?

Did you moan at people who bought £200 3600s because they were being "cheap"? Did you tell them their expectation of a 6c at £200 was unreasonable? You know, when AMD was selling 6c for £200? :p

Why is it now that £200 is "too cheap"? I don't understand. Should everybody who bought a 3000 series chip give AMD £50 because they bought them too cheaply? :p

Like I said it's because of covid every thing from food to electronics has gone up will settle down eventually
