I’ve only just gotten back into gaming (thanks covid-19) I was running on an old Xbox, really caught the bug for playing again... looking to optimise my gaming experience by creating a gaming pc, but being a complete novice in this category I’ve no idea what parts to go for, from it being a high tower/mid tower case right through to the finished article. Any help would be appreciated.

Upto £1500... I am aware there is a lot of new upgraded pieces coming out within the month also, so my budget could move upwards if it was the best thing to do.

In all honesty, I’ve no preference. RGB looks nice, but I’m more interested in the performance than the aesthetic side of things.

If performance and aesthetics can go together then I’m all for it!

Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction and taking your time to look all that up for me! I’m going to check out all these parts and as should be done with everything just a bit of research! Thanks again! Do you think it’s worthwhile waiting to see reviews on a new processor or is the 3700x be just as good?

Honestly at 1440P it won't make much of a difference and since the new CPUs are more costly then it definitely won't if it means having to cut down on the GPU to stay within budget.

Thanks for that. I’m only really playing one game at the moment and it’s a FPS game. So would it be more worthwhile to go for a newer processor even if that takes me slightly over budget? Or would a 3700x be still pretty darn good?

I'm over 144fps on most the games I play on a 3080 and thats with a ryzen 5 3600, for example apex legends gives me around 250fps with maxed setting so adding a better CPU would make no difference with my monitor capped at 144hz.

It would definitely be worth it if you play at 240hz and 1080P but at 1440P my CPU is only around 4% behind a 10900K.

if you building a pc for around 1500 i would definitely wait for new ryzen cpu and big navi to be available and then make a decision

Yes pretty much. Value and/or performance depending on you get. But we are still yet to see real worl performance from the new AMD CPUs. And as mentioned above, new AMD GPUs. Which we know little about.

So it really depends how keen you are/ if you don't mind waiting.

The Nvidia 30xx GPUs are all out of stock for some time with little info on delays also.
