Hey all,

With things coming up in my life i'm looking to move from a desktop to a laptop.

Currently running a 2700x & vega64 machine, and going to be ordering this laptop:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...-ryzen-r7-4800hs-gaming-laptop-lt-2bk-as.html

Looking for a docking station that will allow me to use my current kb + mouse, USB wireless headset, 32" 1440p 144hz monitor and 27" second monitor, some monitor speakers & ethernet.

I'm looking for a docking station that'll allow me to use all of the above with the laptop, am I right in thinking a docking station is the way forward?

Unusre which one to get or where to start looking as I don't think the asus has a thunderbolt port and it's not an area i've ever had to go down before!

Any advice would be great!

Cheers :)

A lot of universal USB-C docks. But my experience with them in a work environment isn't fantastic. Currently running a zbook 14u with a HP USB-C. I feel the delay even on two 60hz screens via the USB-C interface. It uses the Display link software.

Tried a earlier thunderbolt version as well but it was similar experience. I expect trying to run at 144hz over USB-C will be a bit tricky as well and you'll need to go direct with the monitor to get the best out of it. At that point a USB Hub with Ethernet in might be the better option rather than a full blown dock as I expect you'll need more than the wattage a USB-C can carry for max performance. So It'll be a single USB, power and screens to plug in rather than a neat and tidy single USB that does everything.

Yeah I expected as much.

So use the UBC-C to displayport & HDMI on the laptop to power screens, then a nice USB-C powered hub with ethernet and extra USB/Whatever else is on there?

Any brands or names of items you'd recommend. Want to be careful with links as I don't think OcUK sell these, but it's obviously very related.
