NVIDIA Allegedly Moving Ampere to 7nm TSMC in 2021

Hahaa,
Ok this is funny. :D
I wonder if anyone else got the underline messaging...

At this point this is such a I hope this makes a lot of people go to AMD, it’s a perfect opportunity for them to strike. I’m very tempted myself.
I'm sure that will be the case.

If true, then just another reason to add to the many why I've dropped the current 3080 from my wishlist.

Those 50 3080 buyers are going to be miffed!
LOL at the 50 comment :D

But it's not completely clear, if true, how many 7nm gaming skus we will actually see. From the rumors 7nm was reserved for professional skus.
So the same shortage can happen again unless there is some information suggestion
A. If this is true
B. They have enough wafers from TMSC

problem is they wont care as one look at their bank balance will show they sold out and probably beat sales forecasts. They will probably see it as the most successful launch for a long time if not ever.

Thats how it looks to the shareholders I'm sure they'll be delighted when they find out the figures, how it plays out amongst the unwashed masses who are waiting an eternity for the bloody things is another matter, I imagine it'll all be forgotten in six months time though it usually is. Anyone remember the great Pascal shortages some people were waiting 6+ months for their GTX 1080 OC or strix or whatever they were? It was a bloody long time. All forgotten now.

People seem to have forgotten what Jensen said at GTC 2019 as well and/or misunderstood and then forgotten... TSMC was always making nVidia's 7nm [GeForce] GPUs - they should have maybe asked him who was making the 3080, etc. (to clarify my point).

That is just someone surmising not confirmation.

I still find it funny 2 minutes ago people were all like "no nVidia can't just switch to TSMC 7nm" and now it is all "nVidia are switching to 7nm TSMC".

rofl, good luck with that

It's actually advantageous.

No next gen games to play currently (which is the only reason I bought it)

It means I get to see how the market plays out over the coming months and keep or cancel my order whilst maintaining a position in the queue.

So the wait is fine.

It’s making the rounds as news that for sure. Just when I thought the ampere launch couldn’t get any worst they decide to pull the stopper and drain the water.

So ampere Gen 1 is now EOL within days of launch, allegedly. Lol, if true. Just pure lol.

I can only assume that this time ampere Gen 2 will be more power efficient, have more vram and overclock much better...allegedly.
:D

I'd imagine they'll sell it as a 3080 Super.

Didn't Jensen say their node was "cutting edge" and it was designed with them in collboration? So much for that spiel...
