Does it appear good to you guys? Dumb question but will it come with a WIFI card to connect to the net? Is the motherboard good or should I get a slightly more expensive one? How about that 3080 card - should I get a different brand? Will I be able to use Intel's thermal boost to increase the speed of the CPU? Also, for the Corsair RAM I selected, why does it say 'AMD Ryzen tuned'? Should I get a different kind of RAM since my CPU is Intel? Thank you.

While it is a good system you are paying big time for the watercooling and you will need to maintain it.

The motherboard you picked has wifi

Amd tuned memmory means it's guaranteed to work at that speed on amd motherboard. It will still work with an intel system.

Zen 3 will be available from the 5th November so maybe it mite be worth waiting.

Take a look at this system and spec it to similar to what you want to compare.

Hi

As above, I would hang on until the 5th and see how Ryzen 5000 stacks up. You can ask ocuk to build you a pc to your spec if you post a basket in the customer services section.

The regular PC-O11 is cheaper unless you need the XL version.

So the 3700X is a placeholder for the R7 5800X.

The X570 Tomahawk is a solid board, and it has onboard wifi 6.

The Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 has a 4 year warranty when registered online. There is also a Gigabyte rep who posts on here.

A liquid cooler is less hassle than a custom loop as it doesn't need any maintenance. The Arctic Liquid Freezer is pretty solid. It is out of stock at the minute though, along with the P12 fans so you would have to ask about availability.

A single 2TB SSD is better than 3 SSD's imo. Just stick windows/games on it. You can always add a 1TB/2TB SATA SSD if you need more storage later on.

If you want RGB then you can swap the cooler fans/P12 fans and Ram to something else.

Don't bother with a water-cooled system if you can't build it yourself. Remember that you will have to maintain it. You will find air-cooling cheaper and quieter, though you won't get the acme of performance that watecooling will give you. If you want fluid cooling, go for an AIO / CLC instead.

Thank you for all these suggestions. I definitely need something with the latest Intel i9 CPU. A game I play can only use one core, so I need the best single-core performance. Intel seems to be slightly better at that than AMD. What kind of maintenance is there with water cooling?

If your focus is single core performance then I don't think you need to go after a 500 quid cpu.

Can you say which games you play at what resolution, and what else you would use the pc for?

It's latest rebranding of 2015's 6th gen Skylake.
Only thing Intel has done since then is cranking up more clocks and finally increase core count from four after stalling in four for decade to stop advance of game development.
Against Zen3 architecture that isn't anymore enough.

And would be crazy to pay half thousand for single thread use, unless it's actually paying job.

The main game I’ll be playing is Guild Wars 2. However I did want to dabble with Microsoft Flight Sim, and also New World when that comes out. I would quite like something that beats the next console gen. I didn’t realise water cooling requires you to do anything. What kind of things do I need to do and how often?

The simple soloution is to have an all in one water cooler sugested in post 3.

Ahh, thank you for the link. Please forgive my complete ignorance, I didn’t understand what an AIO was. I looked at post 3, which is very helpful. So, if I wanted the latest i9 CPU - how do I select a base model to have an AIO for the CPU and GPU?

For all 3 of those games you won't need anything like a 10900k. If you just want to drop the cash for the sake of it then ignore me but I'm just checking you aren't under the pretense that a 500 quid cpu is actually required for your needs.

i would put money saved on cpu towards the GPU but since we are already recommending rtx 3080 here I don't see a reason not to go with 10900k
... though it would make more sense to wait and see what amd 5000 series will offer...

My idea was if I am getting the 3080, might as well get that 10900k CPU, yeah. I am honestly having trouble making a config with all this that comes to less than £3300. I am also very confused about the cooling, I don't know how to make sure I get the right cooling for the build. I guess if it doesn't ask me to select cooling blocks for the CPU then I must be looking at an air cooling build?

What do you guys think of these?

By the time 3080 is actually better available Zen3 architecture Ryzen 5000 CPUs are propably in shops.
Jensen himself admitted they basically have no idea when Ampere card availability becomes good. (slow release designed to pump up prices?)

And of course price explodes when you insist on spending to brand stickers and things you don't need.
These simpler games don't need any high core counts (in which AMD owns Intel anyway) and Flight Simulator 2020's multithreading seems to follow Microsoft's general incompetence level.

6 core/12 thread would be perfect for such game.
Neither are those games super demanding for GPU.
So especially without 3840x2160 resolution monitor more reasonable ones would do.
(who knows if AMD's RDNA2 cards are out before Nvidia's good availability)

And if you odn't have more money than you know what to do with just forget Samsung in SSDs.
Nowadays only thing they're master is brand overpricing.
Any NVMe drive is certainly good enough for those games made for masses with potatoes in place of PCs.

Neither you need 1000W PSU.
It doesn't make PC any faster/better, or improve game experience.
Quality 750W PSU is enough for single graphics card PC without overclocking.

Also RGB stands mostly for Ridiculously Grossly Bloated pricing.

The issue is my main game only uses one core, and I think Intel is still better than that than AMD. Thank you for the advice regarding the PSU. What if I possibly want to overclock, would it be good to get the 1000W PSU?

Honestly, if this site had the availability of the 2080Ti, I would take a build with that in as it would save me a lot. However, this site only has the 2070 available (which may not be good value for money), so I thought I might as well order a build with a 3080; as I think this at least beats the next gen consoles.
