I over locked my ram (first time) in prep for the Ryzen 9.

3200 to 3466. Tried 3600 but wouldn't boot. Didn't touch voltage or anything though. Is on 1.35.

Thats corsair 2 x 16gb 16/18/18/36

What kind of timings did you get with these increases out of interest?
I can't remember all the timings as it was a while ago but I think CL was set to 20, it was more of a test to see how fast I could get the ram running on my B450 rather than tuning it as the product page for the board says only up to 4133 is possible.

Since i'm currently running it at 3800/14 with zen2 I think it should do 4200/16 and 4400/18 depending on how fast the FCLK goes if I decide to upgrade to zen 3.

So you're talking to a bunch of friends and that one guy on open mic is constantly typing, this is that guy, how is it he didn't even get the basics right for such an important interview, every PC gamer knows when you're on open mic everyone can hear you typing and its really annoying.

Nice hopefully this is actually true - Buildzoid said that although the IO die was unchanged the actual limit to FCLK was probably the traces on the substrate so they might have improved them
moving IO bits of chiplet from center to edge made wires shorter

Read the transcript https://www.anandtech.com/show/16176/amd-zen-3-an-anandtech-interview-with-cto-mark-papermaster

Also had to read the transcript :(

Yeah, he replied to this criticism saying the video was not the priority, he was taking notes for the written article which was the priority.

I can actually believe this, quite a lot of tech journalists are still text only, if they have the man him self there for a video interview why convert what he says into text? This isn't 1997 people don't go on the internet to read text walls anymore, not when the interviewee is on video, i can listen to the video while working, i'm not going to spend that time reading text walls. Mark was quite happy to be interviewed on video, make that your journalistic piece, the written article is irrelevant when you have him on video.

He could have just went back through the video after the interview to type up the transcript.

Bit disappointing that we're still on 24 pcie lanes. The board I'd shortlisted drops the two main pcie slots down to x8 if the second slot is used. Are we at risk now with Ampere & Big Navi of bottlenecking graphics if it occupies a pcie4 x8 slot?

I agree with him, I feel media who just do videos and no articles are lazy, I always find it much easier to consume text than watch a video, especially as most youtube videos feel deliberately stretched out. I have seen 20 minute long videos for something that can be explained in 30 seconds.

It will be losing 1-2% because that throughput is equal to PCIe 3.0 x16.

Aren't more lanes additional coming from the chipset?
