*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Just read @Gibbo updates from today in the deliveries thread.
"Asus are going to be making none OC products as well, but as with all launches the first waves of stock are always the OC models, Asus have made no announcement stating none OC cards will be made and are still requesting resellers to setup and take orders for none OC products."

And after scouring this forum and google I couldnt find a good answer to my question.
If historically Asus have started shipping Strix Non-OC after Strix OC what has been the rough timeframe between the two in previous years?

I got a Non-OC with the hopes that people would pick the OC one and I'd be a low queue number. Which worked, 11th. I dont really mind waiting but like many I'm desperate for any info I can get my hands on.

I am guessing the "no" in "no announcements" is a typo but still I find this quite frustrating (#31 in the strix non-OC queue). Not OCuk's fault though. That one is on Asus marketing a product equally with the OC version and failing to mention they are just not going to bother making any anytime soon. Had I known this on launch day I would have just ordered the OC version (not that I really care about the factory overclock - I can do that myself).

So the big question in my mind is will the 500+ deep backlog of OC strix be delivered before 31 non-OC???

Yeah, I would be interested to know that too.

I hope your card comes in next week, I think it’s quite likely they will get at least two in soon.

Yeah I’ve been playing some stuff, I paused my play through of Death Stranding till I had the card so I’m slowly going through that again, and still testing various games with it, can pretty much max everything at 4K above 60FPS even with my older CPU, which is what I was after as I hate having to lower the res as I’m on a 49 inch TV at about five feet away for most games and it’s very obvious when I lower the resolution so keeping it at native 3840x2160 is extra important and a big reason why I went with the 3090.

I think the first real test will be Cyberpunk 2077, hopefully it’s not too CPU intensive and I can get away with reasonably high settings.

Just got shipping confirmation! Yeehaw

(TUF OC position 2)

Yeah basically my thought process as well. We'll see, maybe Gibbo will bless us with a "strix non-oc coming in tomorrow" by the end of the week :D

Does suck how theres no information. Its not even about cancelling my order or not... I just want to know so I can stop cheking forums and google and such constantly... tell us more Asus!

Well with the 1080ti shortages and delays where people were still waiting two months later for their Strix OC cards, it was the none OC which came into plentiful stock first and a lot of people swapped their orders over as they were fed up waiting after 2 months

If Asus do prioritise the OC over the non OC version it’s crazy for the sake £50 difference in the two cards. Asus could end up losing a lot more money if people get feed up of waiting for the non oc and jump ship to other brands when they become available on the market

Thanks for that update much appreciated but i was hopping to know if their is coil whine? Fan noise isn't my worry as i will be slapping on a water block. Every reviewer so far on YouTube has mentioned coil whine on the Strix 3080 and 3090. it sounds like you cant hear it from the fan noise or your one of the lucky ones. Regardless may not bother most people but for me i run a dead silent setup and it would be nice to know if you would be kind enough to give it a try by lowering the fan curve and run a benchmark and listen for a squeal.

I tried testing for coil whine but couldn’t hear it specifically. Obviously the fan was loud though so that could have masked a small coil whine but yeah I didn’t notice one.

Asus have repeatedly stated over and over that both models are being made in equal numbers.

Fact is only OC versions seem to be getting to retailers (in limited numbers)

Now at the speed and quantities these are coming through they must be going by air freight so I can only imagine Asus has decided not to ship any none oc cards by airfright and there are large numbers coming via sea freight only,

So once we get to early November I reckon we will see numbers of OC cards ramping up as the containers come in and an equal number of none OC cards landing as well.

Since the OC waiting list is 5 times as long as the none OC cards, I would imagine none OC cards will end up clearing the order list sooner and going into available stock long before all the OC pre order lists have been fulfilled.

Then people have the dilemma of whether they change order or now just like with the 1080ti.

Me sitting here with my 970 "ah yeah sure I can wait a few more months to increase my FPS 10 fold..." ye no. Immediate gratification is stronk for my 3090 Strix OC.

Thanks for testing that sounds good. Enjoy the card hope we will get one soon but looking very unlikely.

1080ti will do you fine for Cyberpunk. It's still a good card. Probably the best value card in terms of longevity that I've ever bought. It might not have all the flashy RTX lighting etc. but the game will still look better than it will on xboxone or PS4. Your 3080 will turn up eventually and then you'll have another excuse to play through the game with higher settings.

It's a shame that Nvidia bungled this launch so badly, they're not just shafting us, they're even shafting the developers who got on board with all their RTX-on advertising promotions. The tone of those adds was clearly "buy a 30xx series or Cyberpunk will look like garbage" but the truth is it'll look good even if you're still two generations behind.

Edit: tried to quote someone there but failed badly. Time for coffee, or lunch, or both.

You know, reading Gibbo's post... then reading here; after the launch orders are fulfilled, I'm almost tempted to write a thank you post for the OCUK staff. It ain't easy dealing with the internet... but in a situation like this, we're all basically shooting the messenger (OCUK) while Nvidia walks free.
I feel for OCUK staff.

Then again, I probably have the unpopular opinion here. And that is fine :)

Can't wait for November to start and see numbers of ASUS TUF Non-OC coming in :D

I was looking forward to building an upgrade from my old i5-2500k & GTX1080 but with all the problems people are having the excitement has worn off now, If they do actually become available I might upgrade to a Ryzen 5000 series and get a 3080 when they are actually for sale and the silly prices come down a bit, I will just have to wait a while longer, such a shame
