*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

It’s worrying how quick a competitor has taken down its 3090 backlog. I’m waiting for msi trio. Looks like stock is coming to OC at end of October. Which is great news. The other place has queue of zero.

4th in the MSI queue, so I’m next. But just feel comms from OC could be better so I can make an informed purchasing decision

just behind me :) we will deffo have our cards when next batch arrives

There are here man! Mine arrives tomorrow so you should have a confirmation also?

There we are see, the Pep Master was right on. :D
Now all you need to do is not rip apart the box when you get it. :D
What will you be trying it out on first?

Indeed :D my next dilemma is whether I should Watercool it. My 1080 and CPU is at the moment, just wondering whether it’s even worth it spending the extra cash and potentially voiding my warranty on the TUF. What do you think? Also worrying about whether it’s time to replace my 6 year old 850w Corsair Gold PSU

I haven’t got any recent games, contemplating buying control and doom eternal to mark the occasion to tide me over until 2077 arrives :)

I’d suggest “no” for both. The cooler on both the TUF and the Strix are more than capable and quiet enough (you can also try undervolting for better thermals and noise, unless you plan on overclocking quite a bit), as for the PSU it’s more than enough.

P.S: received an update for my GPU and now it appears I’m no: 16 (TUF OC).

Well these TUF cards and probably the Strix too are the coolest running 30 series cards going that I’ve seen so far from comparisons online, mines running in the 60’s and there’s a guy on YouTube who undervolted his that’s running in the 50’s. Depends how hard you want to overclock it I guess.

As for the PSU, it’ll probably be fine, mines a Corsair AX1200 Gold myself, and that’s powering the 3090, a 5930k, 4 mechanical drives, two SATA SSD’s, one M.2 drive, 6 RGB fans, light strip, AIO cooler, lots of USB devices etc. I was more concerned with the health of the rails to give stable power to it when it spikes as it’s probably older than yours but it’s still going strong so far.

Yeah I’ve been worrying about rail health too. I have Corsair rm1000 not even a rm1000x a original yellow label from about 8-10 years ago I know it has enough power but worrying about the stability of the rails.

will save the time and effort then! Fingers crossed for a decent sized TUF shipment for you soon. Strange how this time round there was no heads that the TUF cards were en route from the manufacturer, just a confirmation email that it had been shipped from OCUK  nice surprise!

I don’t think I will bother messing about with overclocking, given the 3090 TUF OC is a powerhouse as standard. Hopefully I will finish work at a sensible time tomorrow and will have time to bang it in and share a pic! :D

Interesting the other place still isn’t taking orders even with a queue of zero

Ive asked them about this and they said there would hold stock when they receive it but not put it up for sale until all the other pre orders are satisfied, which I find unbelievable.
Well i don't find this unbelievable, especially looking at these guidelines from AMD for their launch:

https://wccftech.com/amd-preps-for-...00-cpu-launch-issues-guidelines-to-retailers/

This particularly is interesting:

Inventory-toe-Cart Allocation: Allocate inventory only when a customer submits an order or set a time limit on how long a customer can hold our product in their cart. Inform customers that purchases are not guaranteed until the order is submitted

Also scalpers causes as much problems for etailers and retailers as for end customers.
Just look at this entire launch from NV - most people are furious (rightly so, at least at Nvidia) and frustrated, because this is 3rd(?) launch with problems first RX4XX and GTX1XXX and crypto-boom, then more and more GPU acceleration for pro software (even Nvidia enabled OptiX on theirs consumer cards, still without viewport acceleration, but still is ridiculous) which made a semi or quasi-pro hoarding these cards (well... I don't blame them. Tensor & RT Core have had faster implementation in pro-soft rather than games), which doesn't surprise me when you look at Quadro and Tesla prices.

I've yet to play any games with my 3090 Strix OC where the card reaches 70C on thermals with all settings maxed out including ray tracing at 1440p, it's always sat at around the mid-60's when gaming - Linus wasn't wrong about you can feel the heat off of it, but it's because the fans & heatsink are doing their job really well.

If anybody has a space heater, you won't need it with this card :D - Just make sure you have adequate case fans carrying cool air across the board from either right to left or left to right.

Also re: the Watch Dogs / Nvidia Now promotion, haven't yet heard back from ASUS ROG forums about it - going to send another message today.

one thing OC have done which I like, is the fact I can join a queue, I don’t have constantly check if stock is appearing for sale. But a nice table showing back log and expected delivery dates would good. Might save them having to deal with lots of emails too
