No it won't throttle at full load. The 5600X has a TDP of 65W. Which means it will have a default PBO limit of 88W. The stealth will handle that fine.

It won't hit the highest PBO bins, but if that is your definition of throttling then anything but chilled water will 'throttle'.

Depends how long you're planning to keep it. As a5 year CPU the 5900x looks fairly good.

I mean I don't mind buying a 3rd party cooler like a Hyper 212 Evo. They're £30 but if I won't see any performance uplift then I won't bother and put that £30 towards some other parts.

Wait for the reviews as I'm sure there will be some looking at the wraith stealth. My guess is if you have PBO enabled then the cooler temps might give you 100mhz to 200mhz extra when all cores are stressed. Up to you if that is worth £30.

Fair point. We will have to see why kind of performance increase that gives, if it's 100mhz-200mhz what does that equat to in terms of % increase. I am not sure what the 5600x all core boost speeds are.

Here's what the impact on the 3600 is. Also a 65W chip with a default 88W boost limit. It just about manages to cool 88W with only a 50mhz loss in clock speeds.

Anything less than all core load and it will boost higher with the power limit headroom.

Like I said I'm sure the same analysis will be done for the 5600X

Unless it very aggressively drops clocks due to heat (i.e. tmax isn't 95C like it has been for Ryzen so far), it should be similar. But I am guessing.

The 3080 is £649 (retailer markups are always a thing, but some launch prices for good cards were set at RRP), which is cheaper than the 2080 whilst pushing performance a lot more versus the previous gen. The performance proposition is quite improved.

The 3090 is £1,399 for the best card (FE), but availability is crap and therefore markups are, again, in abundance for AIBs. That is an unreasonable increase vs the £1200 of the 2080ti, I'll agree with you.

The way amd designed the pbo2 is if your able to cool and keep temp down the chip will scale well.
Its why I am buying the 5600x myself to replace current 3600.
Already made the upgrades and just await the new chip
