i never used passmark... still impresive...
edit: just checked... 8700k @5.2 got me 3191
edit2: 5.6Ghz 3435
That seems low. My 9900k (same chip really) at 52/48 sc:

If true, might cause me to reconsider the 5900x. 5800x might do...Looks like the 5600x scored the same as the 3700x in multithreaded too!
6 core vs 8 core! Impressive.
Ain't the 8700k a 6 core?That seems low. My 9900k (same chip really) at 52/48 sc:

Explain.
Insane ryzen domination.

Mind you yours looks low compared to the AMD 6 core.
Tick tock, as Intel would say. There are some still some flying the blue flag, will be white come the 5th.
You only need multiple cores when your single core isn't fast enoughLooks like the 5600x scored the same as the 3700x in multithreaded too!

What kind of power does it draw at 5.6GHz?
If that set of results are true, no way in Zamunda are these chips staying at RRP for long.
1.21 gigawatts.
Depends if people want to pay the premium... most AMD customers are used to 'value' so post-launch sales might not be as strong as hoped.
Too much performance for them to offer it at good value, you mean? That’s what I’m saying. These chips could offer a little too much value.
too much value ? They are sort of doing intel with theirr new pricing...
The 3600 was as fast as the 2700 so the performance gains are similar this gen to last gen. Why would this gen be worth more than last gen?I complained about pring at launch, but it seems that Zen 3 money may be as fast as Zen 2 money in multi-threaded applications, and a LOT faster in single threaded stuff.
If Zen 3 money is indeed faster than Zen 2 money, AMD have not raken a step back in value.
Breaking-even in MT isn't all that impressive, but it's not a step backward. ST is very impressive if it holds up in reviews.
Unfortunately by that logic you invite AMD to price their next-gen 4 core at £300, if it matches the 5600 in MT and beats it in ST.I complained about pring at launch, but it seems that Zen 3 money may be as fast as Zen 2 money in multi-threaded applications, and a LOT faster in single threaded stuff.

You have no idea about the supply situation though do you?You can look at in a few ways. The more value you offer the more the demand on production and the supply chains. The is danger is, if supply outstrips demand value is out the window and the supply chain sets the price for you.
