*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Dilemma. I currently have an EVGA 3090 FTW Ultra in UK stock sat in my basket form delivery next day but after searching around I can only find one waterblock manufacturer currently mentioning they are making a block for it and wont be available until xmas.

That means taking my loop to bits, running on air for 2 months and then having to rebuild my loop.

Do i click buy or wait for the strix where I can get a block relatively quickly>

100% you should take the EVGA so I go down in the queue for the Strix by 1. :D

Non-Joke response, I feel the EVGA 3090's are all inferior to the Asus Strix model (confirmed by reviews, component choice, stock power limits etc) and when you're already spending this much might as-well get the best card right? Plus we know EK and others already have Strix blocks shipping this month.

I really feel it'll be worth the wait for the Strix.

EK have moved pushed back their shipping to next month now

Not true.

I posted a video by Gamers Nexus a few pages back.

GN have not tested a Strix OC because they are rare.

The lack of strix 3090’s is astounding.....even in the YouTube community......I think the only person I’ve seen with 1 is Linus?

In fact he had 2 but had to send one back to Asus as they had so few

indeed. I see the ftw3 3090 are hardware locked to 450w max power no matter what bios you use. Even the new bios Evga released still have them locked to 450w which is why 3 power pin cards like the MSI when flashed with the strix 480w bios or the new Evga 500w bios are outperforming all the FTW cards in the benchmarks. People are getting really angry on the Evga forums and saying they will be sending their ftw cards back unless Evga come up with a fix.

so took it out of my basket. Not going to pay that much money for a gimped card that you have to do a shunt mod to get it to perform as well as an msi.

When paying this much for cards I am inclined to want the best performance but there seems to be so little in it even when comparing them to the FE. Some games seem to respond better to some memory overclocking. After however many weeks I am now 271 in the queue and it all feels farcical at this point and I wonder if just getting what I can is the best option. I'll be looking at the AMD stuff with great interest although I now use NVENC New almost exclusively. Not sure if AMD have an equivalent.

I think that's reasonable. This is close to a no compromise product, it shouldn't have that kind of cop out.

From the Strix OC reviews I've watched (not by Gamers Nexus obviously) it uses the best of the best components and has the highest available TDP at 480 Watts. Even the EVGA BIOS on their forum only raises the limit to 450 Watts.

In reviews I saw a stock Strix OC straight from Asus leads all the charts and gains 9% over a stock 3090 FE. I mean if that's not the best card I don't know what to say. The words I see reviewers saying who took the card apart is things like "no expense spared" and while they all harp on the price being high all of them are saying it's the no-compromises 3090 to get.

But please understand when I said all the EVGA 3090's are inferior to the Strix OC I did not mean to say the cards are awful or bad. The Strix OC is better but the FTW Ultra isn't a bad card, it performs better than the NVIDIA FE. It's just not the best one on the market. Perhaps the KingPin card will take that crown from the Strix OC when it ships, in-fact I'd be surprised if it didn't.

EVGA have a 500W bios you can flash.
Hoping Gamers Nexus get a Strix of soon.
