I had it all set in my mind that I was going to order a 3070 tomorrow. But seeing the AMD line up I have no clue. £500 is about my budget.
I was going to order a Z490 and 10600k as well, then probably the next gen intel when that's out, either I5 or I7.. I Currently have whats in my sig. I could obviously get a X570 now, then wait for the new ones.
I have a 1440 144hz monitor, so thats the aim.
I know Nvidia and Intel were always the best for gaming, but I dont know now lol.
I play various new games, the main one is WOW

AMD is now the fastest for gaming. Grab an X570 or B550, a 5600X and a 6800.

It may well be, but the wise advice is rather than pass full and final judgement based on a presentation by the company selling them wait till the cards and drivers have been tested .

I certainly wouldnt be buying an Nvidia right now though.

I would i bet hardly anyone is cancelling their 3080 preorder for these new AMD cards which are usually a let down.

He has only got 500 quid mate lol.

Well he should pony up the extra for double the vram. Nvidia are done, loads in the nvidia reddit saying they are cancelling their ampere orders. Being cheaper and faster with loads more vram is a big seller apparently.

I think he might have been referring to the full system you advised the guy to get. ;)

In terms of price/perf, AMD haven't brought out anything that competes against the $499 3070.

The 6800 is maybe 10% to 15% better (if we take AMD cherry picked benchmarks) but also costs 16% more at $579.

The 6800XT and 6900XT (using AMD benchmarks) actually beat 3080 and 3090 on price/perf by undercutting them.

I was initially going to try to get one seeing how awful 3080 situation is,but now I completely lost interest even if there is plenty in stock and even with a new build gathering dust waiting for GPU.

Well they say there's quite a few 3070's in stock.
I'm still not sure, but I just ordered a X570 board. At least I will have something to do!

Re-think your game plan imo. Ryzen 5000 series is better than Intel now in every way, and RDNA 2 is better than Ampere at 1440p, and if you combine the two you also get synergistic technology boost through SAM. You'll leave considerable performance on the table if you go 10600k + 3070 instead of 5600x + 6800.
