*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Moore's law is dead has states nvidia are holding back chips as they're going to completely revamp their line up for this generation of cards. I wonder what that means lots of people saying 3080ti probably coming in around the 1k to tackle AMD but how would those people who bought the 3080 feel if they scrap and replace for something better at the same price point. Kind of glad I'm 900th in the queue and not expecting a card this year.

I wouldn't feel any different, because the 3080 is more than enough for my needs as I'm primarily playing at 1440p.
It's still a very nice upgrade from the 1080ti.

Hey, just been lurking here. Curious if we have an idea of how long the queue is for the OC TUF? I'm positive 475 for the none OC but I'd happily pay the extra £50 to cancel it and switch over to the OC if I'm going to get it a lot sooner. Just not sure if it would actually be any quicker.

If that rumour of a 3080ti 12Gb 384bit card gets confirmed and is coming in Q1 I would probably cancel my 3080 pre-order.

Nvidia are holding back chips! And you believe that nonsense? Those chips are worth a lot of money and Nvidia isn't as stupid as that chancer would have you think. They to revamps the RTX30xx line up? What are they going to do with all that silicon? scrap it? Of course they're not that would be insane! If they did have excess chips they would be throwing them at AIBs like crazy to get product out the door and into buyers hands as fast as they could so no one is left with unsold stock and buyers can't switch to AMD or consoles. They might well launch a 'super' version like they did with the RTX20xx cards, but that will take a year at least to redesign set up with Samsung and change production. The only thing they can do at this stage maybe is add a bit more memory, but that isn't going to improve or refresh the range.

I listened to his last hysterical point about Nvidia raising prices which proved completely wrong, he had heard a rumour that board prices from AIBs were not going to be the same as FE price and from there he managed to create an entire story about an evil corporation planning to hike prices through some kind of rationing of product. It's fantasy, and he latches onto tiny pieces of information and bloiws them out of all proportion!

Well I ordered on the 17th of September after 4pm, currently 42nd in the queue, but awaiting on todays potential dispatched order or a new queue position email... Gibbo stated an "OK" qty, which should equal 50pcs...

If and it's a big if, they do launch this product the price would certainly be higher, probably at around £1000, and it's not going to be until March at the very earliest, they can't produce enough silicon to satisfy demand as it is, so unless they farm this out to a different wafer fab then it's going to be just as bad as it is now! You'll probably be lucky to see some product by 2022 if you do switch !

Except for the fact that I will get my TUF non-OC maybe next Christmas (according to the amount of those cards that were shipped since 17th of September) the question is if we will get Watch Dogs: Legion? If I good remember everyone who purchases the RTX3080 before releasing the game? Even if I don't have the GPU ATM I did pre-order on the 19th of September so in my opinion, I should get it?

Exactly this really. And you will be another 6 months closer to the next generation of cards which will probably be around 2022. For me personally, i tend to skip the next generation anyway and upgrade in bi-generational. My 1080ti has held up pretty well until it gets replaced (hopefully) tomorrow when my card arrives.

I'm giving the 1080ti to my 10 year old daughter. I doubt it will get pushed hard with Roblox though! She has a pretty decent PC now, as I gave her my i7 7700k when I upgraded the CPU in August.

I've had a look and seems to be only some brand new monitors releasing now? I have an Acer XB270HU and can't see anything about freesync working on it and seems to be that Nvidia GPU's support freesync displays but AMD GPU's can't run freesync on g-sync displays :/

I have the same monitor and it doesn't support FreeSync. Time to change the monitor I guess.

The new AMD offering seem pretty decent, but does anyone else not understand why the 6900XT is so much more than the 6800XT for only a slight difference in CU? If they would have given the top tier card 24GB it would have been a no brainer.

The 6800XT seems like the one to get.

I cant justify £1000 on a GPU at the moment anyways. Only reason i went for the 3080 is cause I managed to get an AIB one for £650 so, even if they launched a £1k 3080ti it wouldnt bother me.

6800XT is definitely the one id be looking at. Honestly think they should have dropped the price of the 6800 to create more of a margin. The 6900XT price would be the same as the 3090 price for NVidia, its the 'Top Of the Range', so comes with a price tag that's lower in price/performance. Less people will go for that one, but its mainly for people who want 'the best' they have to offer
