Hi all,

I've been waiting for the new CPU and GPU announcements before delving into what I can build for myself with the above budget.

I just want to see if it is even remotely possible to get a 3070 build in the budget or is it worth waiting a few more months or is it even worth getting a 3070 over one of the new AMD cards?

I know stock is an issue at the moment so a lot can probably by the time it is available (price wise) but just curious as I really want to get a PC built but not sure if I should give it a couple of months for the dust to settle on the new cards.

Thanks for the advice :)

With a 3080 likely to take up £700 of your budget you’re going to have to get some pretty good deals to make it in at £1000, and i suspect that even £1200 might be a tough ask.

Don’t forget you’re going to want a minimum of a decent 750w power supply and that alone will probably soak up close to £100.

Thanks for the reply,

For the budget what would you suggest? Not sure if the 3070 has much gains or if AMD can beat it out and save money?

And the newly announced 6800 from AMD would be worth considering, provided that the reviews are good, as you’re most likely going to be building an AMD system for that price and could take advantage of their integrated features.

Between that and the 3070 then, i'll wait and see what comes out on top but I would likley go AMD for the CPU

Ok i'll update this to a 3070 build, does that seem realistic for the budget? If i can get one
If you base the 5070 price around the £550 I’ve seen people think it might be, then it looks a lot more achievable.
Get the basics right, PSU, motherboard and memory, and then look at what cpu and gpu you could work with in your budget.
