3070 Promo confusion

Complete scam how can they keep advertising it comes with free game and then not supply it?

I would throw a brick through their window.

Didn't all those people that were talking nonsense about suing OCUK regarding this launch basically get told that it's not a confirmed contract until they ship the card? Which technically means you're not entitled to anything.

I do completely agree with you though, I'm in the same boat.
But unless they cancel my order, then when the time comes to ship it, they need to ship the full order, which includes the game codes no? Besides this is mainly on Nvidia to fix, all they have to do is extend the redemption period of the code. OcUK need to be doing their part and apply pressure on Nvidia to do so. Even though it would not be OcUK’s fault directly, it still will not reflect good on them if they ignore the issue and say nothing to do with us.

That sounds like a bit of false advertising - not sure a lot of folks will be happy. I wonder if they'll go for some form of compensation.

Wasn't there some sort of disclaimer on there along the lines of 'while stocks last' etc?

Not that I particularly like this kind of blatantly cynical marketing ploy.

There was no disclaimer on my purchase. I didn't know of any promo, just went to buy the card, it said + free COD, no asterix with a disclaimer.

Now Nvidia are giving COD from 30th oct to 10th Nov while stocks last, but only for 3080 and 3090.

I have a screenshot of mine with no disclaimer.

Overclockers hiked the prices up and advertised something you weren’t going to get. They almost certain have small print somewhere that sticks two fingers up at you while doing it.

Me and my friend are in the same boat, ordered the Palit card which advertised COD: Cold War as a bonus. Has anyone tried to contact OCUK about getting compensation or anything?

The problem is that OcUK couldn't give you CoD even if they wanted to/had the codes spare (which I'm sure they'd do) as they'll only activate on a 3080 or 3090 being installed. You'll just have to suck it up gents :(

What about the GeForce Now codes? I ordered my Palit card at 1:06pm which would surely qualify me for a code however I haven't recieved anything

Surely the contract is confirmed when they take the money

But then again in this day & age where you get stupid things like you buy something online and then sent it back for a full refund 7 days later just because you changed your mind.. things maybe different

They only send codes out when the physical item ships, you won't know if you're getting one until the card ships basically.

I ordered my card at 1:06pm on Thursday, the GPU arrived at 8:40am the next morning, not had an email yet... then again, it could come next week during working hours haha

Yeah, you'd think. However, the OCUK T&C say that isn't the case and I don't know enough about the laws to say otherwise.

People will complain about no Watch Dogs code and they will be offered a refund if they're not happy. 99.9% won't take the refund as they want the GPU.

Yeah, but some of those people will remember and shop elsewhere in the future too :p

Once a company goes on my shitlist they don’t easily come off. Like an OcUK competitor that messed me about, they have missed out on quite a bit of custom from me, my family and friends.

That might be the case, but I still haven't seen them to even try to make it right. While not ideal, they could've offered a different game or a partial refund (not like they're hurting after hiking up the prices so much), or even store credit. There are plenty of options they could've gone for, but seems they decided to just not care.

I'm gonna give them a ring tomorrow and see what happens, you don't ask, you don't get. Worth a try & I'll update on here.

They're not going to offer another game as they don't have any, the game codes are given to them by Nvidia. As for a partial refund, the game is technically a free gift and has no monetary value. Any refund would be out of their profit margin and they'd never to do that in a year of Sunday's.

Thank you, do let us know. I've likewise contacted them through their website contact form (webnote), let's see if I have any luck there.

Let's be honest, plenty of businesses do compensate you when they've messed up (including partial refunds). On the other side of the coin, there's also plenty scummy businesses that don't even try to pretend to care about customer service.

I'm ****** that I ordered a 3080 on launch day, probably won't get the watch dogs code, and now they're advertising COD which people that buy ater me will probably get and I won't. It's a scam
