Hi all,

Assuming the 5900X beats the 10900K in gaming as we expect it to, I will be ordering one on Thursday.

I should be receiving my RTX 3900 this week and everything else I will reuse from my existing PC. For a monitor i'm using the X35.

I just need to order the motherboard, processor and an additional 1 tb m.2 (i already have a 512gb i will put in too). What would you recommend? Focus is on performance rather than value for money.

M2 one of the best value and performance pcie3 drive Adata XPG SX8200 Pro.

Pcie4 m2 if you want ultimate in performance but little real world diffrence.

I only game and understood pci4 didn't really make any difference. Below is what I what I was thinking. Would you Tomahawk be better?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £580.48 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Tomahawk is a great board, the underlying components are right up there with more expensive boards - I've also heard negative reviews on the Asus chipset fans, whereas MSI have one of the better ones.

Ok, cool. I thought you had to have an old cpu in to do it. If it's a usb sure i can do it.

Will look at that m.2 too.

So the asus wouldn't give me better overclocks?

Ok, that's good to know. I'm just using a 360 mm AIO so nothing insane.

My graphics card is MSI gaming trio too so one less bit of lighting software. Nice saving too!

You could easily go with the MSI B550 Gaming Edge Wifi or B550 Tomahawk. Both have a really solid VRM and will handle a 5900X. That would save another £50 over the X570 Tomahawk.

Thanks @lee32, i was going to go for a £400 board so happy with the saving on the 570. Just need to hope the benchmarks come in or it's back to the 10900k and they have stock here!

My 3090 arrives today! Just waiting on cablemod cables. Ordered the cables 15 days ago :(
