Rx 6800 will be priced at around £550, rtx 3080 FE is priced at £650.

The price gap between amd's lowest end Navi 21 GPU and NV's high end is just £100.

Is this purely because amd knows there wont be sufficient rtx 3080 (and 3070) stock, so they can charge more?

We dont officially, but it will be at least £550 for the rx 6800.

Also, I just saw a rtx 3080 for around £1400 (in stock) on a popular website, wtf? More than twice the FE RRP price.

6800 will be a bit less than £550. I'd guess £539.

Only problem is because AMD don't sell direct, who will stick to MSRP for reference cards?

I don't think the RTX 3070 or RTX 3080 are worth paying more than the FE (RRP) price for... The AIB models aren't much better than the FE versions, so far.

But, if they could do a RTX 3080 clocked @ 2050mhz or higher, it's performance would probably be quite close to a RTX 3090 FE at the rated boost clock.

Yes you will. You just have to be patient

I may still be waiting but I did order an Eagle for £650 from OCUK on launch day. It's just lack of supply pushing prices up for now and would expect in 6 months time for the base models to be going for around RRP again. Of course RRP will probably shoot up if the £ drops due to a no deal Brexit :/

There not really charging more because its there smallest cards and the 3080 is Nvidia's High end (for now). does not matter if its there small or large chip in there stack, rather how it performs at the end of the day vs other iterms and based on slides, it looks to perform about mid way between the 3070 and 3080 so seems to make sense to also charge a mid-way price. Though that said, its $580 so imagine it will be around £520 for the AMD reference version which akin to the FE will be like gold dust I expect if they set it at MSRP price, with AIB models going wild.

One guy on Reddit apparently got an overclock of 2070mhz on a RTX 3080 FE! With sufficient memory clocks, this GPU would provide similar theoretical performance to an RTX 3090 @ stock clocks.

I wonder if he just got lucky with the silicon lottery though?

Not really. Check the benchmark threads on this very forum, plenty of 3xxx owners hitting 2070 Mhz and above with some going above and hitting near 2.2Ghz Of course what is stable may change depending on what your benching.

My 3080fe sticks to around 2010, not brilliant but not bad, haven't really tried to find where the wall is.

600 on the memory seems the safe zone
