Nothing like the only thing you’re looking forward to all day being the worst performance in months, at least in other games there’s been something positive to take from parts of matches. Today... diddly squat.

I think he should really re-think his faith in Laca and not play Willian or Pepe unless he has to, as well as actually putting Auba in the middle. It was Emery/late Wenger, abject level stuff and I thought we we’d crossed that bridge.

EDIT - although as the commentary team said, this seems to be a thing across multiple teams at the moment yo-yo’ing between decent and diabolical somewhat randomly.

Always gonna happen in such a condensed season. The fixture schedule is going to be a serious problem this season.

He has lost 4 games this season already. The team is obviously still bad defensively as when Arsenal actually setup to attack it is easy to get them on the break.

The friendlies are forced on the FA by FIFA/UEFA so they have to shoe horn them in somewhere, I've always said International matches in the early parts of seasons are stupid but FIFA want to keep International football going so won't let any fixtures drop from the calendar.

I get that but like ive said in every single transfer thread they are signing average players. The issue i have with Arteta is how negative they are but then im not sure they have the players to do what he wants them to do.

I was arguing with Arsenal fans in the transfer thread about how Willian was an average signing...where has he gone? Hes been missing for two months.

The problem Arsenal fans have is that they don't have the financial clout of the other top teams in the league. They used to play exciting football which was good to watch but ultimately they weren't capable of winning anything of note with that style. Arteta is now trying to be pragmatic and more defensive and now they are not playing exciting football but still have the same issues as before. They won't win anything with this squad and style of football.

They are stuck in a place where they are very unlikely to ever be back at the top table of football and are chasing old glories that will never come back. Becoming a more defensive team won't change that, it just takes the joy out of watching them.
 
They did win the FA cup so they can.

Hard to argue against that, Willian had one good game against Fulham and he's been missing since.

I'd rather have one of the kids in there but Arteta has his favourites.

Do any of the big six actually care about winning anything but the CL and PL?

If the extent of your aspirations is to win domestic cup competitions then you are unlikely to ever be competing for anything more.
