Hello all.

I sold my 2080 a few days after the 3080 came out and I can't get a 3080 anywhere! I'm stuck using my 9900K's iGPU and it SUCKS. I kinda panic sold my 2080 incase it plummeted in value and now I'm left with nothing! What should I do?? Cheers guys.

What about stadia for a bit?

If you're desperate to game, buy or borrow a second hand gfx card until your 3080 turns up. Nothing else to do lol

Win some, lose some. It really sucks. The shortages are just crazy.

just watch videos of other people playing through games.

Bahahaha!

You could always pay a someone £1500. Yes, people really are doing that. Always remember you have more sense than they do watching TV, feeding ducks, etc, instead of wasting a ton of money and feeding the scalpers.

Almost the same situation here mate.

1:. You can get a GPU from Amazon, they have free returns until the end of Jan. Confirm it with customer services that your order is eligible and then return it as soon as u have your 3080 delivered.
2:. if Stadia does not suit your taste, Try Geforce NOW. I play AAA games from a ****** laptop, and sometimes my 65"android TV, works perfect.

Bit of a scummy move, not Amazon's fault you was a muppet and didn't read the market.

"oh noes, I sold my car before Ford released a new model and the demand was HUGE, and now I can't get to work, what do I do??" Simple. You don't sell your car. You wait. Until you get a new car, you don't sell. Yes, you might not get as much on the second hand market, but at least you can get to work, it's really not rocket science.

/sarcasm

You could hit up ebay, and try to pick up a 1080/1080Ti to tide you over, I'd sell you mine for a steal but I'm not daft and will keep ahold of it until I get a working 3080 in my hands!!

Sorry if this sound harsh and/or bitter, but you're the creator of your own situation.

I think the decision to "sell early" was wise. I missed that boat entirely.

I have a 2080 sitting idle in its box, having only been used for about 4 months from new. I looked at selling it to offset buying an RX 6800 XT. But I was so disappointed to find out it was worth less than half original value (barely £300 - and not even selling at that price either), I decided to keep it as a spare. Seems the 2070 Super killed resale value of 2080 long before 30x0 appeared.

So, options:
- if you find a 2080 or similar (2070 super, for instance) for peanuts on ebay, (or at least, less than what you sold yours for) then buy it. You get your missing performance back, and still have some cash in pocket. But it's a gamble the card you get works and hasn't been abused. So look for returns accepted, or assurances the thing works perfectly, etc. Gumtree is a less likely source, but any second hand market might suffice.
You should be able to resell it again for not much less, when the 3080 arrives. So long as you sold for a decent price originally, you should still benefit nicely.

- make do and wait it out. Try flower arranging or something. Or binge watch TV series. Or go gaming at a friend's house. If covid allows it.
Revisit some old classic games from 10 or 20 years ago, that the internal graphics can cope with. GOG has plenty of DRM free old games, often selling at huge discounts - lots to choose from, for under a fiver. Graphics is pretty, but those older games have gameplay...

- consider going team red when their new cards arrive. If you're quick when the pre-orders start (whenever that is) you might get one of the first batches. It is hard to imagine worse availability than the 30x0 series, right?
The first AMD cards are meant to be "released" on November 18. That's just one week away.
But no pre-orders yet? That's a worry.
So, don't cancel any pre-order you have for a 3080, just in case that one comes in first. (You have pre-ordered a 3080, right? You'll definitely be cardless until 2021 if you're not on a waiting list.)
The RX 6800XT is meant to be at least as good as a 3080 - benchmarks seem to confirm that. And if you have an AMD 5xxx cpu, there's extra synergy benefit to be had.

Sorry for the tl;dr.

What about stadia for a bit?

I think Google own enough things to blacklist you from unless you share thier political views. Isnt owning the internet gateway and Youtube enough? And now they want to take away your game ownership.

I can see it now, Oops you said some naughty or disputed things online so we are closing your Stadia account and keeping all your games! ROFL NO!

Sitting in a box is worse than selling it at a reduced price. It will only lose value. Get it sold for £350ish and buy something even cheaper if you need a spare, for whatever reason.
