What RAM should I get?

Hi,

I was about to place my order for the following parts:

AMD RYZEN 7 5800X EIGHT CORE 4.7GHZ (SOCKET AM4) PROCESSOR - RETAIL

MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK (AMD AM4) B550 ATX MOTHERBOARD

I’m looking to get 32GB DDR4 as I currently have DDR3. Trouble is I have a huge cooler master lump which I think will cover two ram slots.

Is it worth me buying two sticks of RAM rather than four and new CPU cooler? And as title says, any suggestions on what kind? Thanks!

Edit: current cpu cooler https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/legacy-products/cooling/masterair-maker-8/#Specifications

Yes, 2 sticks, easier to overclock than 4.

Anything over 3200 Mhz, so what Biz above recommended is good.

As for the cooler, you current one is quiet but below average performance, if you want to update to something better, maybe the Noctua D15 (quiet, bit big but does have space set aside for RAM) or Noctua U12A (small, quiet, high performance).
I was going to recommend the Scythe SCFM-2000 but that's out of stock here now.

Think this point got missed.

I used to go for low profile RAM because the cooler I had would get in the way of taller RAM. Looking at the Coolermaster page there is a shot of the cooler right next to the RAM slots so you need to be careful; what RAM you buy. To tall and it wont fit.

Even buying a new air cooler has the same problem you need to make sure it doesnt conflict with the height of your RAM.

Something like this might fit better.

Eventually I went to an AIO liquid cooler which solved my RAM height problem. I would try and get your measurements right first as its very disappointing buying everything only to find the damn RAM you bought is too tall.
