Reading the issues on ResetEra of people’s donts is quite the trip...seems like a lot of things can screw the console up.
Anything we should be aware of? Hopefully these get fixed before Thursday. My thoughts go out to all those beta testers with bricked consoles.
Wtf. I don't remember PS4 having this many issues. I always use hardwired internet and rest mode so I should pretty much just not actually use my console then????Yeah a few:
▪︎Do not use rear USB ports or LAN ports for transfer after initial setup.
▪︎No external HDD reccomended until a fix via Sony
▪︎Do not use rest mode
▪︎Reccomend wifi until sony puts out a firmware update.
▪︎ "Soft Bricking" occuring with console owners after 1 hour into gameplay, and it needs a hard reset/ restore as if its corrupted (Using external HDD) which may cause a total brick if done a multitude of times
▪︎Fully update controller before shutting it off
▪︎Updates reccomended for Smart TV'S if there are any issues with no display
▪︎Use the included HDMI cable
From what I can see on Reddit.
There are quite a few cases of people reporting 'Artifacts' and green screens too.
A lot of it seems to be software though.
Yes I agree. For every person reporting a problem - there will be 100s of others with none. For the sake of perspective, it's worth keeping in mind that the only people you'll likely hear from are the ones having problems. Definitely a situation worth keeping an eye on over the next few days though.
Making me anxious lol. Seems mostly OS/software related though agreed.
Me too, I always have used wired connection.Wtf. I don't remember PS4 having this many issues. I always use hardwired internet and rest mode so I should pretty much just not actually use my console then????
I remember a time when hardware and software was launched in a finished state, none of this beta testing and day one patches![]()
To be fair, the scope and complexity of todays games is absolutely insane. You could have 1000 playtesters going at an open world game and they wouldn't come close to finding all the bugs. At least we can now get updates and patches easily whereas 20 years ago you might not have been so lucky.
Some things are very hard to predict and test as well. I'm a developer and the things people do with software is mind boggling. You can't imagine the crap people do and then wonder why things break.
Working on a service desk, I know how you feel...You can't imagine the crap people do and then wonder why things break.
