Cleaning tape marks off carpet

Our carpet has sticky tape marks on it, and I've tried warm soapy water, but can't get them off. Also tried using a vax- no luck.

I just can't get the adhesive residue off.

Any recommendations?

Try a very sticky tape to sort of dab at the adhesive, something like duck tape

What about some rubbing alcohol?

But try in an inconspicuous place first in case it affects the carpet colour.

try nail polish remover (a common women's cosmetic )or ask at a paint store, maybe acetone would be the right remedy,...

Big Wipes the ones that are blue In a yellow tub. They are very good at dissolving paints/adhesives.

Ended up buying a spray called "sticky stuff remover" from de-solv it. That worked perfectly.

I'd recommend that.

Do not do this, it will melt the fibers of the carpet.

It damaged mine, also depending on how the carpet fibers are attached to the backing, it can dissolve the glue.

my carpet is not high pile and is not damaged. I think it depends on the quality and composition of the carpet. especially when using nail polish remover, it does not attack the fibers as hard.
