*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

I just thought I would way in on the shipping debate. I would be very surprised if they were not airfreight. I do not believe the prices are that bad. We send airfreight pallets every week and they are nothing as expensive as GFX cards.

but here are the rough transport times.

Sea Freight (FCL) 30-35 days 39-43 days
Sea Freight (LCL) 29-33 days 40-45 days
Air Freight 3-5 days 8-14 days
Express* –– 1-4 days

Taiwan to UK.

Next will come the posts of people measuring shipping containers online...Stock is landing everywhere but here...

does anyone know how a 3080 FE compares with a TUF OC? is the TUF much better?

Can't speak for the TUF OC, but having had both FE and non-OC there's practically no difference between them except thermals. Assuming ASUS are binning their chips the OC would potentially be a little better, but I was hitting 2100mhz boost on both tuf non-oc and FE. Not sure what the tuf OC claims to hit, I couldn't actually find that info anywhere

So i was 400 something in the queue for an MSI. i swapped queue last week by cancelling the order and buying zotac. Im 25th in the queue now for zotac. However havnt had any update from gibbo since friday . hoping this will arrive this month. I have a 10900k system just sitting there gathering dust for 8 weeks.

Yep, pretty typical.
Taking into account some variables, I estimated the first sea shipments on 24th November earlier in this thread, or could have been the banned one - it has been so long. I will be interested to see when proper volumes start. Barring factory fires of course

On a circa 2KG item costing about £600 the cost of airfreight vs ocean is relatively peanuts.
Normally yes, but air freight charges have more than doubled since lockdown since so fewer planes are travelling and those that are are need to charge more because there are fewer passengers. It's getting better again according to my logistics manager but still not great, especially with lockdown pt2 in effect and all the consumer retailers vying for Christmas stock.
Yeah, can't remember where I saw it though. On their facebook page a post from the beginning of Oct states

"Delivery without detour
All available GPUs will be assembled and tested on our cards asap (up to 144 hours). Afterwards, the finished cards are delivered directly from the factory to the UK. So some stopovers are eliminated and we save valuable time."

Can't find reference to air freight though, so pinch of salt on that
That's good to know. Hopefully they can start catching up with demand soon!

I don't know what the actual costs are but we send Pallets of aerosol valves across the world by air freight. So sending £900 gfx's should be do-able. Especially given the current PR nightmares.

I stress - that statement was made at the beginning of October: a month and a half ago. I see no valuable time saving exercises bearing any fruit compared to the 100s of cards other manufacturers have been delivering!

My original estimate was based on flying 10% and stockpiling 90% for containers assuming a throughput based on experience with working with a major AIB China based factory to develop and manufacture a custom motherboard and discrete GPU with 6 weeks in transit door to door. Came out week 4 November. However, with the way things are looking, I might have been a tiny bit optimistic.

Wooo it's actually here, took a whole two days.

So its real, my tracking number doesn't show anything yet and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

First world problems ahoy! Just had my second 3070 of the afternoon get shipped! Managed to order an in stock Founders card at RRP this afternoon, then an hour later an email from a etailer stating a Aorus Master 3070 I just missed last week and went backordered was about to ship having arrived three weeks earlier than expected. As much as I like RGB and a wee screen on the card that plays animated GIFs ... I'll take the £130 saving.
