10k Family Car.

Went for one of these. Half alcantara. 98k miles. Fsh etc.

Will hopefully good for a few years and let me spend cash elsewhere. I think 10k was probably a bit rich for my work horse.

Looking forward to getting it. Looks great.

I see you went for the pre face lift... Sensible choice and will see you well. At this age any replacement parts are cheap anyway!

Ill be honest I didn't even know much about face-lifts or anything. This one just seemed a nice example so decided to go for it.

Is it worthwhile remapping these things or is that just risking blowing up a nice car.

Will update thread to share my thoughts next week.

I am yet to remap as haven't needed to. Although it pulls the caravan nicely as it is I am seriously looking at a remap as it improves the mpg quite a bit when towing.

200-205bhp is safely done so I wouldn't worry too much if you do go ahead and do it especially as it costs around £200.

Shouldn't need to do much to the car, pretty good out the box to be honest.

Yeah 200hp would be nice. I've never remapped a car before but heard good things. Seen a place called "big fish tuning" mentioned on a forum. Might be something ill try in the new year. Saved some money by getting an older car so might justify the spend.

Yeah they are at Stokesley... If you are local they are a pretty good company.

I haven't looked at the Mk3 Octavia, where is most of the space lost in comparison to the MK2 Superb?

I came from a mk2 Superb hatch to the mk3 Octavia estate, so not entirely sure on boot space, but there's definitely quite a bit more leg room in the back of the Superb over the Octavia. That's not to say the Octavia is small in the back, quite the contrary, however the Superb really was cavernous. Apparently similar leg room to an S-Class!

Yup. Mk1 Superb used the extended Passat platform used in China.

Picked up my Superb 2 estate last night. I really got lucky and the person I bought it from treated the car even better than I could have hoped for. Full comprehensive history, immaculate interior, optional boot tray / spare alloy wheel etc. So much space inside it almost echoes.

Really happy we went for this. The 170 engine has a good amount of power. Remapping them must make them really quite impressive.

Glad you are happy. Sounds like you've bought a good one!

Good luck when it comes to replacing...i am yet to find a car that I can justify the change!

Run in into the ground, surely?
I’m doing the same with my A6.

Yeah I had the perfect private purchase really. The seller was an absolute gent and very helpful and honest about everything. I've drove it a bit more today on some of my usual errands and it feels like pure luxury to me.

I just need to get a new car seat for our little one and then it will fully take on its family wagon role.

I think that's the plan if I'm honest! Looking at going electric on the other car so will just keep the superb for caravan duties until EV can be used to tow.
