MSI RTX 3080 GAMING TRIO is underperforming

Low to mid 17000s at default on graphics score is par for course - especially with latest drivers bringing down out of box clock speeds vs the launch drivers to stop the crashing issues everyone was experiencing.

Any ideas?? Firestrike works for some reason, want to get my 3080 score up

Intelligent standby list cleaner (ISLC) help any? Also try to disable high precision event timer. None of these cause issues on my PC but there are youtube videos for this.

Example

Under nvidia geforce experience, turn off in-game overlay.
Windows settings-->gaming-->captures
Turn off background recording and record audio
xbox game bar = off

Windows settings-->privacy-->background apps
Turn this off.

Check for thermal issues.

I guess I tried some of those tricks without any luck, but not all of them. I will try and see.
Thank you.

Another msi 3080 owner here and I'm having issues too. Have a ryzen 3600 at 4.4ghz stable, 16gbs 3200mhz ram, b450m mobo, rtx 3080 msi gaming trio. Ssd for boot and 650wpsu. So I've noticed that my fps seems really really low. For example the witcher 3. Everything maxed out at 2k and I'm barely getting 60fps. Looking at YouTube videos and people are getting 140-180fps. No vsync enabled, know this cause if I look at the sky it gives me 100+. Call of duty cold war maxed out 2k (no raytracing enabled) and struggle to get over 100fps. Superpostion benchmark gives me a score of 11182 at 1080p extreme which is a little low but close enough to average. I've used ddu to uninstall and then reinstalled the latest drivers with no change. Updated bios, even tried a slight underclock with no help. My temps while gaming never exceed 68 degrees. Clock hover around 2ghz.

If anyone could help me out I'd be very grateful

Thanks in advance

Can you run a timespy benchmark as it's easier for comparison purposes then.

same, benchmarks are fine but games run awful, cant even hold 100 fps on warzone at 1440p all low settings, major regrets of this 3080, my 2070 super outperformed my 3080 in every game

I'm 90th in the queue for a 3080 gaming x trio, although with the stock situation and reading these multiple threads about it underperforming I think I'm just gonna get my 700 odd quid back.... What a shambles this launch has been, past the point I'm even bothered about receiving the card.

honestly my 2070 super ran better than this 3080, i cant even maintain 60 fps on gta v or 100 on warzone, low settings or high, fps stays the same lmfao, major regrets

Potential issues:
  • Minimum PSU is 750w for the 3080
  • Could be a Ram speed bottleneck
  • Are you using 3 separate power cables from the PSU to the card?
I'm having issues with mine as well to be honest - poor warzone performance at 1440p - struggling to get more than 120fps average (sometimes I see 168 in the plane). Not sure if its warzone poorly optimised or the nvidia drivers but something is up. I have a 750w supply and a 3700x with 3600mhz ddr4 CL16

i cant even stay above 100 on warzone, 3700x, 16gb 3200CL16

Your CPU sucks. or is broken.

My 10850k scores 13380 and i have about 30 tabs open and the radio playing
My cpu is a 3600 running @4.4ghz. I know it's not the best chip by a long shot but thought it would for sure do okay with this card,
My friend has the same cpu,ram,psu and mobo but the only difference is he has a 3070 and gets getting more in game fps than me but I beat him on benchmarks.

This is such a frustrating issues as I feel I have tried everything

I saw that a 650w should be okay with the 3080 at stock voltages, and yeah there are three cables going into the psu.

Thanks for your replies guys
