Hi all,

Not interested in the keyboard and mouse argument being better. I play on big screen with a controller.

Going to treat myself to a new controller for Cyberpunk.

Do I go series X or ps5? Xbox is £45, PS5 is £60 but can recharge. Price is irrelevant I just want the best one.

Using a wired 360 one at the moment haha. Buttons are sticking so its getting annoying.

Will the PS5 give Playstation button prompts in game like the Xbox ones do? That may be the deciding factor.

Thanks,
Sean

I'd be going for the PS5 controller in the hope that some of the new features will be picked up by PC developers.

When I've used a PS4 pad in the pad on the PC, I never found it a problem with xbox only prompts, you soon get used to it.

Keeping in mind that Microsoft first party titles will be coming to PC too I'll be going for the Xbox controller myself. When Apple release the compatibility update that is, as I hear it works great for both IOS and PC.

Gonna be personal preference. I prefer the Xbox controller but will be interesting if the PS controls features are picked up.

personally I prefer the batteries in the Xbox controller. If you have rechargeable batteries and charger in home in general, makes it much easier for this and other devices.

Not sure how much you mean price is not a consideration, so I will put this one out there.

THRUSTMASTER ESWAP X PRO

Very expensive, it is wired as you dont seem bothered about that & you can change both joysticks around, and the dpad so you can have it configured as either ps or xbox set up & you can buy replacement joysticks ( and maybe triggers, not sure on that) if you get stick drift after a while, not got one myself, but just seen it recently, & have probably spent around that much on 360 pads over the years as buttons/wires/joysticks have died.

PS5 has more features & lower latency, but is more hassle on windows than Xbox (you basically have to wed yourself to using it through steam). Xbox works flawlessly with no setup, has more battery options & easier to disassemble and customize. Obviously the shape fit is subjective but important too. 8bitdo sn30 pro+ is also a good alternative to PS5.

Debating this atm for myself too. Might get an Xbox one again in the end, just waiting for sales & new colours.

I sold my Xbox One S controller for £35 not so long ago and bought one of these Series X ones for £40 a couple of days ago for my PC. Nice upgrade and I am happy with it.

I will be picking up a PS5 in a year or two depending how they get along with exclusives so I can always use the controller of that then. I just can’t see any of the features at has coming to pc in more than a handful of games, if that.

I know it's personal choice and all that, but why would you do that? Have you not seen how ****** up the movement looks in the gameplay videos of 2077 due to them using a controller?

Tough question!

Xbox Elite V2 pros: massive 40he battery, best in class ergonomics, adjustable and mappable buttons and paddles.

PS5 Dual Sense pros: Best in class rumble and haptics - a true next gen experience, built in mic.

Cons for the dual sense is poor battery (10hours), as good as it is on a ps5 my guess is that no games on pc make use of its features which makes it a paperweight

You mean use a controller? You go play fighting and racing games with a keyboard and see how much fun you will have. I will be playing Cyberpunk 2077 with keyboard and mouse.

That thrustmaster one looks interesting but I'm a very casual gamer so that would never see a trigger or pad swap lol. Never thought about a high end aftermarket controller though, may watch a few youtube videos on it.

The 360 pad is original lol and the wire does not bother me at all. Never worn out a pad in my life

I do actually have an xbox one s pad wireless but don't have the recharge pack so is annoying somewhat.

I may go with the ps5 pad and hope the extra stuff gets incorporated into games. One S to Series S pad seems like just a textured grip and slight shape change probs not worth it?

Bonus is obvs compatibility as stated.

Agreed. It's the best controller ever made. I wish you could still buy them new (not including the fake chinese ones).

The three Xbox pads I have that suffer from stick drift (two Xbox 360 and one Xbox One) would disagree with you.

steam games tend to use xbox prompts, some games may have modders fixing it though, or have options for psx icons.

If I ever replace my 360 controller (thankfully the thing has great build quality and works a dream still) then it will be playstation as I cannot stand the dpad on the new xbox controllers.
