Ok so lets pretend that cost doesnt come into play here. If I was going to for a 3080, which of the third party ones would be considered the best? From what I can see its the ASUS or the MSI, but has anyone got exp and/or tests of them?

Thanks :)

I think the Asus TUF is the clear winner in the "economy" bracket. Calling it economy is really misleading. It's a darn good card.
As to the "premium" it's not so obvious.

the TUF does seem like it competes with the 'premium', what makes it any better/worse than the higher priced ones? or is it all in the cooling?

Asus tuf, runs extremely cool, even under full load, overclocked and the fans set to auto.... It struggles to break 63 degrees in heat...

Gets my vote also, though I maybe biased :)

I still cant get over how cool, quiet, and fast it runs. And I was lucky enough to get one in the first batch from Overclockers for £690.

Personally I'd go with whatever had the best cooling, which wasn't Asus. I've had too many bad experiences with Asus.

They just seem to have got everything right with it. The performance isn't the highest but you couldn't expect that at that price. Certainly though everything else is spot on.

I tend to be the same. I like cooling! So I will probably be heading towards something like the Aorus Master - although not completely sure yet. I am usually interested in MSI but they seem to have missed the mark this time.

This time around Asus appears to have the best cooling. The more expensive cards offer an additional power connector for ~1-3 more FPS.

I went from an EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 to the ASUS 3080 TUF OC, which seems to be both cooler and quieter.

I've not tried undervolting yet as I think Afterburner beta caused a black screen.

Tbh if you want cooling. Get the cheapest card that you can get a water block for. Then flash bios overclock with much cooler temps and profit
