since i bought my 3080 ive been having issues, the moment i installed it i get constant BSOD and the 4 beeps

never had this with my 2080ti

i think its linked to Compatibility Support Module (CSM) is turned on in bios

when i turn it off i cant boot in my m.2

i think the PC thinks the GPU is a boot drive

just wondering if anyone else who has a 30 series card using BIOS instead of UFEI experienced this issue

I've been having black screens since buying a month ago and also a couple of BSODs. Seems to be driver related. Not had any hardware beeps though. Usually the system freezes and the monitors go in and out of standby. I just have to RDP to the machine from another to reboot it.
The issues seem pretty common. I don't think NV have got on top of the drivers yet, fully.
Gaming has been fine for me but not done any extensive session yet. My issues usually occur using the desktop day to day or during RDP sessions to another machine
And I had a BSOD today which I think is the second one to date.

Not on 547.51 driver. Saw someone else in another threads with 4 beeps and a fix suggestion they saw from somewhere. I tried to find the thread but unfortunately can't. I have seen since Monday.

Oh, it was you in another thread. Asus board right?

Have a try using 'who crashed' free as that look specifically at BSOD full system crashes lock ups. It will look at all the dump files so far.

Post up what is causing it then maybe we can help raver.

Motherboard BIOS I think he's talking about, are you using the latest one?

updated the bios yesterday to American Megatrends 3201, i believe this is the latest bios for Asus X299 boards

I think the main issue is that the 30 series cards do not play well with some of the legacy BIOS people use hence why people are getting the 4 warning beeps at start up (if they have a speaker installed)

so far ive also deleted DDU all the previous graphics drivers and installed the latest driver

Disconnected everything from my PC to eliminate suspicion.

Check you have all power connectors on the graphics card. Some cards need 3 or 2 PCIe connectors. If you leave one out its BSOD if you run a game.

this is wierd

was just about to reinstall windows and change from BIOS to UEFI

Its the 4 beep warning, and BSOD

But ive tested the most demanding games i own. MSFS2020 Metro COD 2020 Vallhaal and LEGION

no BSOD

but as soon as i run Cyberpunk2077 i get BSOD

Steam forums saying its my power supply and that it cannot handle the voltage spikes, apparently its on it way out?

ive got a EVGA P2 1300 watt supply unit with half the connectors removed because im not using as much as i did in the SLI days

I got BSOD once with cyberpunk but that was due to an unstable overclock on my cpu. Seems cyberpunk is abit more demanding that other titles at the moment which doesn't surprise me. Upped my core voltage by 0.05v and no more bsod since. I find its also very sensitive to gpu overclocks as well, already had to knock down my gpu overclock a notch or 2 cos of CTD a few times but again its not done it since.

i just had a look at my BIOS and the CPU voltage is on Auto, wouldnt have a clue on how to OC the CPU, im pretty sure od have to discover the voltage on default which is somthing like 0.119v then id have to add 0.5 on top of that number to 0.124v

you probably increased the other values on your cpu to

though i have Asus own OC software on the BIOS, if u select gaming mode with a AIO water coller then the CPU is overclocked along with the ram, i still get BSOD even with that setting

If you're at stock clocks at the moment i would leave it as it is as its probably not the culprit. Mine only did it cos mine overclock was unstable running 5.1 all core, i tweaked a fair few settings but i did do some extensive settings so i was confident enough that it just needed more juice which so far i've not been wrong (fingers crossed).

Have you tried running the game on completely stock inc mem, cpu, gpu etc.

yes, ive also gone to nvidia debug mode to underclock the card to founders edition settings, people who run legacy BIOS with 3080s are getting 4 warning beeps, becuase i dont use UEFI thats causing the warning beeps on start up, hence i think its somthing to do with the BSOD

weird thing is ive never had a BSOD and every game i play doesnt do it, just cyberpunk causes the BSOD

Then ppl say that the BSOD is not caused by the game, its a PSU issue

This is a complex situation

I would reseat the RAM modules.

It's not NV driver related, there is clearly an issue with your PC just like the OP has an issue with his.

Back to the OP, as zx128k suggested, try reseating your ram. You could have knocked it while installing the GPU.
Also make sure the card is fully clicked in place and make sure it's not sagging because this could cause it to lose contact inside the PCI socket. It's a heavy card so sagging is a common occurrence

Reading around, plenty of others are having similar issue. And the PC was completely fine until the 3080 used which points to likely the GPU or the drivers. Given that I've not yet had one problem while gaming, only in light desktop use, I'm putting it down to *likely* being the drivers. And of course the drivers might only be an issue with certain setups, who knows. It's definitely something NV related that's failing, I can see that in event viewer too, which backs the case what the issue probably is.
If still having the issue in a month or so then it'll be time to RMA the GPU I think.Maybe by then Asus might have released a new bios, just in case it's a mobo incompatibility with the new cards, although I see this as less likely given the system is only a year old (Z390 board). Actually I just checked and there is a mobo bios released today so will try that.

It's probably down to the card running out of VRAM.

Soz, someone had to say it.
