What’s a good present for a toddler? We’ve got our 2 year old a Little Tikes truck and a bunch of Duplo/Brio but it’s hard to think of presents and this sort of thing usually works best with recommendations.

An activity table and a giant ball run (think marble run, but with ball pool sized balls) went down well with our 2 year old last Christmas.

Edit: Oh and a small Casio keyboard, that’s still a favourite now!

Imaginative play toys like farm, animal, dinosaur figures etc. My mum's got ours loads of Playmobil 123 stuff. Maybe pretend tools/kitchen/doctor/nurse type things.

You don't need to go nuts really. My son has loads of cars once he as little, obsessed with them and tractors so we've focussed on more socially interactive toys and games. He got a load of learning Ames for his birthday which he likes (memory and matching numbers/colours).

My son absolutely loves books too.

Is this for someone else's child or are you not aware of what your own child is interested in?

Oh blimey, if it's for someone else's 2 year old, buy them a trumpet or a drum kit, or whatever else is the loudest, most annoying thing you can find!

It’s my child. The thing is he’s 2, so his verbal communication skills are still fairly rudimentary, meaning he can’t tell me what he wants (not that they know what they want at that age). I know some things he’s interested in (like I said, dinosaur mad) but recommendations are still helpful.

Enable Pshyco Sonny mode

I suggest being a better parent and not have 50 year old virgins on a computer forum tell you what to buy your child.

Are you projecting? :D

The activity table suggestion is a great idea. Not only is it fun to play with, but it helps develop fine motor skills.

Got to be a bottle of Smirnoff?

My son has just turned 3, we always get him big trucks, lorry's,cars. He doesn't bother with the small cars as much.
