I am seriously considering handing down my current System to my son who has developed into a hardcore gamer (very proud dad here).

The system:

Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz @ 4.0GHz CPU
MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti Gaming 6144MB
Asus X99-Pro Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Super Flower Leadex GOLD 850W
Avexir Core Blue Series 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4
NZXT H440 New 2015 Edition Case -

Of course that would mean I *HAVE* to get myself a new PC... and I am really drawn to the new Alienware Aurora R11s... of course in the back of my head I hear that they are overpriced etc... but I simply do not have the time or motivation to build a PC myself for example.

So question to the hive mind, are they really still that overpriced vs. the value they deliver?

Yes they are. They are for people who care what the PC looks like more than what it runs like.

Take a look at the PC's on here, there are pre-built/custom built PC's. You'll get much better value for money.

Well... what a Aliencrap.

Case is god damn **** poor design for asstheticians:
Despite of full ATX mid tower external dimensions there's no real room inside case even for CPU cooler or ATX mother.
And its doubtfull longer graphics cards would fit.
Also PSU is in warmer place next oheat of CPU and GPU, because otherwise it might last longer time.

Motherboard is very cheap with wimpy cheapo VRM without even heatsinks, because can't endanger fashion hype profit margins.

Alienware have a bad rep though I think they're not as bad nowadays. I'd still probably recommend looking at system integrators to build you a custom one which lets you pick the parts and may well be cheaper
