*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

My 1070 palit card is the best quality gpu I have ever owned, extremely well built with a beefier heatsink than the well known partners.
Not saying palit is terrible, they make better quality cards than MSI does and many other, I would simply like a card that I like visually more than others.
My vision 3070 will go in well as I have white psu cables and some silver and white accents here and there, just gotta del my 2070 super now

Yeah I remember them snow drifts we used to have back in the 80,s, Around here in the sticks we got them bad back then..Damn im getting old lol
In Fetbyshire, Peak District I grew up. In a village on the trainline between Manchesterva Sheffield. Proper winter snow, drifts, sledging slopes and broken school boilers!

We tend to remember the exceptional, especially when they affect daily life, but not events like last night when it fell to a bone chilling -5C and didn't really get much above freezing all day. It's one of the coldest Christmas Days on record, but it won't be remembered by many because it didn't affect their lives much.

that snow in Manchester was a light spec, it melted as soon as it hit the ground, its like frost on your windscreen on a cold morning, its nothing compared to what we had b4, hell you can even place a bet on the bookies for a white xmas, but you would lose your dough, climate is way to different from a couple of decades ago, its estimated that in 50 years snow will be non existent in the uk, only the peaks in Scotland will get it, for people to experience snow you would have to go to Canada or the Alps, hell maybe they wont get snow as the planet is getting warmer

Damn graphics cards and OC'ing has some blame....

You are right. I suppose that, in winter, it's neutral eco-cost if the output heat is used to heat your home (thus your heating dysterm burns less energy to reach your thermostat-set-temperature). But in summertime, you'll need windows open to cool.

Now; if the extra electricity is coming from renewables, is it warming the planet? If the sun didn't hit solar panels, it would warm the earth directly instead. If the wind didn't turn turbines it would eventually move something else that ultimately turns into heat energy.

But no denying it, that today we don't have all renewables, and thus our PC usage, in summer at least, is wasteful :(

What thread is this lol

Did anyone else purchase the insurance for their 30 series that OCUK suggests to buy at checkout? I kinda feel scammed since the insurance is only for a year, and 3 months into the contract, I don't even have my GPU yet...

No, most cards will have a guarantee of 1-3 years anyway, I'm sure it won't be as inclusive as the OCUK one but meh. I would've thought your cover starts when you receive the card though not from when you've paid, and if it doesn't contact OCUK because it should. Under no circumstance should you be paying insurance for something you don't posses, it makes no sense.

so whos returning there 3080 and getting a 3080ti ?

It's out of my price range. I'm going to be interested to see what price they come out at though, going off what Gibbo mentioned about some components having a 25% price increase in Jan. I'm assuming they're aren't going to be too far from what a 2080TI had cost, so price to performance is really taking a hit.

3080 ti should be around £999 looks like, from various websites. But launch date is delayed to February it seems...

Yeah I'd read that, I assume that's talking about the fabled FE. The 3080 is £650 if you can find an FE and it was £680 for the 3080 TUF non OC I've payed for 3 1/2 hours after release. Now to buy the TUF 3080 you're looking at around £800 give or take £50 and that's before these price jumps come in January. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if AIB 3080TI's are hitting £1200 within the first week of release.
