*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

What I don't understand is how many firms have the technology to produce the nvidia cores? It seems they mostly use a firm called TSMC and also Samsung a bit. We're now in the ridiculous situation that people who ordered the RTX3080 when it came out months ago still now don't have their units when the next generation of Ti cards are being announced. This is entirely due to nvidia and their partner's inability to actually make their enough of their products to meet demand. This I'm afraid is what happens when one firm ends up with a strong monopoly in a market - the customer suffers! The new ATI graphics cards might not quite match the Nvidia ones but as long as they are available in quantity and perform almost as well, people like me will happily hand over our cash - and personally I hope ATI kick Nvidia's ass. If more and more people decide they are sick to the back teeth of waiting months for Nvidia unobtanium and start walking into shops to buy readily available ATI silicon then nvidia could find their market share collapsing - and I hope they do!!

Quite frankly I am stuck trying to run FS2020 on a GTX1080 in VR and it isn't cutting it. The RTX3080 is 80% faster, all the RX6800XT has to do is be available in Currys, Argos, Scan or here and be say 60-70% faster than my existing card and they can have my money. In fact after all the buggering about here at Overclockers I would love to just walk into PC World and click and collect one today!

I don't need the very best, I just need something that offers a sizeable upgrade in performance every 3-4 years with as little hassle as possible. I'm 51 not 15, I don't need the bragging rights - I just need something solidly better! Now it's up to ATI to deliver it - this is their big chance!

ALL the chip fabs are full for allocation from Apple, nVidia, Microsoft, Sony and AMD due to them ALL releasing new products at the same time, so coming out with statements like you just did shows that you don't understand the issue that's creating the shortage of GPUs

ATI? Someones having a boomer moment

Sorry - AMD, Boomer indeed lol!!!

But the point remains - and the fact Sony etc launched the PS5 was hardly something that excuses inability of tech firms to plan their wafer capacity! This is about lousy production planning and the world being run by beancounters who always seek to minimise expenditure on new plant and machinery or improving capacity!

It's **** poor by anybody's standards and these firms should have been far better able to estimate their production requirements so while I do understand the process I have no sympathy for the firms involved. AMD also missed a huge trick in not seizing the opportunity to out-build nvidia.

You still don't seem to grasp what the issue is. It's not just a lack of GPUs, it's all the other electronic components as well that are in short supply. everything from surface mount capacitors and resistors through to inductors. There is a global shortage of everything, much of this is due to a planet dealing with a pandamenic effecting every part of supply and production

Well someone above 730 in the Asus tuf OC will get their card sooner as I managed to get a Gigabyte Vision 3080 by sheer good timing from somewhere else. It's awesome, but going from a 1660ti to the 3080 I have noticed the heat output is massively increased. Such an improvement, its feels like I have gone from 1080p to 4k with greater detail and/or framerate.

From what I understand gigabyte is OK with careful cooler removal?

So I am now looking for a waterblock. I'm fairly sure I have read its the same board as gaming OC but was looking for some confirmation before I order a block. The only one I have seen is from byski on a Chinese import site that lists the vision so far.

I was hoping this would be compatible

I honestly can’t believe most of you above 50 in the queue are even here or have patience for this S show knowing that it could be getting on for half a year until you get your cards. You have the patience of a saint whilst waiting for a miracle. As long as you don’t vote with your wallets nothing will ever change.

Because the prices have gone up... And don't have that type of money just laying around. And gotta love a queue. Moved 500 spaces since the start... People can carry on cancelling if they want haha. And reason I wanted new set up was cyberpunk, so now seeing it as a pro as getting a less buggy experience when I finally get my card haha.

Hello @Gibbo since the release of 3080Ti has now been confimred, can I get back to my original question of how is OCUK going to handle uypdated for all 3080 customers that are still waiting for the card ordered in September. As you know the "vaperhardware" of Asus Stric 3080 OC is still a myth and tbh it's not OK we are still waiting for the card that will be outdated in a months time. Here is the article that will address the new Asust Strix 3080ti.

Would like to know if you feel that update to the new card is something yo will offer, only fair I would say.

I think that Gibbo has been pretty clear that they are unlikely to ever want to get into the position of large queues lasting several months again, and we are still a long way from there being release dates for these new products, so I wouldn't say it is likely that OCUK will have to even contemplate moving people from a 3080 queue to a 3080Ti queue as that just runs the risk of still having a significant queue and little product to fulfil it with....

Far more likely that you'll be offered an alternative 3080 card from another manufacturer that is able to ship product if there is no sign of the one you originally ordered within the next couple of months.

... or of course you can request a refund at any time...

If it's any consolation China will be investing heavily in fabrication plant technology in the coming years. They must do, since the US trade restrictions prevent them from relying on Western fabrication technologies.

I'd not be surprised in the least that all this lack of production and stalling is a sure fireway to increase demand and thus bump up the prices significantly.
Remember its all about money and NOTHING else.

Can we go back to speculating about OC being evil? I don't like this new stuff...

wow just wow

excellent news, cant wait to order a 3080ti, i suspect it to be at least £1300 to £1400+

this is what must be done at the time of release, in order to secure for early adopters

Start up PC and Laptop, mask the laptop IP so your not IP restricted, open webpage login, register your bank card

Open multiple tabs, as soon as release commences, add to basket, F% if need be, pretty sure you will be the 1st to successfully order a 3080ti

Once received test and sell your previous card if needed

lesson learnt from the 3080 release

I don't post here much, but I've been a loyal OC customer for a long time. I feel for you guys still waiting on your 3080's, I pre-ordered mine on release day when it said stock ETA October, then I got an email stating I was in a queue and anyones guess as to how long it would take. I waited until end of October and then cancelled it. Just bought a 3090 today as I figured the 3080 Ti will have the same problem, which is, all stock instantly purchased and then sold for 200%+ of its original value....

Ohhh my Asus strix oc 3080 is awaiting dispatch was 58th last week, unfortunately not from here, im so excited didn't think I'd see it this year, I guess it will arrive this year
