I've posted this in gfx cards as I sure it's related to this.

I have recently noticed a square transparent box during gaming on my Alienware M15 with a 2070, screen captures don't show it so I believe it's some sort of overlay, I had to take a potato image to show what it looks like -

The above is an image taken whilst playing Cyberpunk (GOG), but the box is present also in AC Valhalla (Uplay) I don't have gog running whilst Uplay is running etc plus overlays are disabled in each application.

Likely candidates (or so I thought) were -

Gefore experience - uninstalled and still present.
Tobii eye tracking - disabled still present.
Xbox game bar - disabled still present.

Anyone know if there is an Alienware overlay as I can't seem to find this information or alternatively have any other suggestion?

Screen burn?
Is that the oled model?

Is it present on an external display

No 1080p 144hz model. It's not present on the desktop, only in games.

Will check now to see if it's present externally.

Edit: tried it through my Denon AVR to my oled and as far as I can tell it's not present externally.

As it's LCD, might be image retention rather than burn in.
Retention usually goes away after a while of normal usage, I'd game for a few hours and see if it's less noticeable.

Thanks for your reply, I was actually hoping it was retention but it's not.

30 hours of cyberpunk and it's still there. However as soon as I exit the game (or any game) it's gone.

I also noticed it resized when I launched the Xbox game bar it reduced slightly, then when exiting the game bar it increased again however I disabled the game bar and it was still present.

I'm positive it's an overlay of some sort but narrowing it down is a nightmare.

It's almost like a livestream box basically if I used the camera my mug would go there. So I disabled the inbuilt camera and again still there.
