I loaded this M2 into the first M2 slot on this mobo. This Sabrint does not come with a screw to pin-down its 'far/loose' end to the riser provided on the board. They say that the Mobo vendor should provide it. MSI do not provide it, though.

It's not entirely needed; the mobo provided heatsink will still push down onto it. However, in case perfection is sought, I can confirm that an old Xbox controller (T9 torx) screw fits instead.

A good PC engineer will always recover screws and bits off old gear before chucking away. After 30 years of this I have hoarded a veritable mountain of odd stuff which occasionally can be of use!

Haha, no worries, they are really easy to miss.

That bridge fan though...the noise... It's been 15 years since I had a board with such a fan on it. I wish there was some sort of passive heatsink I could attach instead. Onky thing i can hope is that it won't spin with such velocity under normal use.

I’ve had mine for a couple weeks and haven’t heard the fan once; you can check the curve in the bios and will see that it only starts at a certain temp.

As @Mesai mentioned, you really shouldn't be able to hear the chipset fan under normal conditions so if you find it be running at unusually high rpm all of the time it might be worth checking that the header pins for that fan are all in place.

There's been a few reports from MSI X570 users finding that one of those pins had been bent/misaligned during manufacture and not actually being connected into the fan plug.

Ah yea, good catch, completely forgot about this. The controller pin could be bent and therefore not connected so the fan just runs at max.

Yeah there's been a few cases so if its on 24/7 I'd definately check that.. On my board the fan only spins for a few seconds on boot up. Not seen it come on other than then and I've got both m.2 slots populated. Fan won't come on unless the chipset reaches 60°c
