Hi all,

My wheels are in need of a refurb as they're loosing pressure and have some corrosion and kerb damage too, I emailed one company and they wanted £70 a wheel which sounds a bit high to me?

I'm based in Hampshire and would welcome any recommendations for a company that's reasonably local I can trust to do a decent job please :)

I used to use Lepsons in Gillingham but they’re more than £70:each, so maybe not. I now use Pristine in Woburn Sands but they’ll still be over £70 for a single wheel.

Used Lepsons several years ago and wasn't impressed: the wheel looked amazing when done, but the finish chipped and flaked far easier than the OEM finish.

They’re all the same. They have two standards. The one for folks giving cars back to the lease company/car dealers wanting a quick tart-up and the one for people who have show cars. You need to explain to them (with a brick if necessary) that you want the show car finish and you’ll keep sending/bringing them back until you get what you want. And when they say you’re too picky go somewhere else....

Get a decent mobile repair van to do it. They charge in London about £70-90 per wheel come out to your vehicle do them on the car very carefully by masking everything off. They look like new when finished. Just make sure you get a decent franchised operation with good reviews you should be fine this is a pretty routine job to them takes about 1 hour per wheel approx done on your driveway or street.

£300-400 respray vs a new set of alloys & fitting costs for tyres is the reality.

I've used Lepson's twice. Happy with the result on both occasions but they are not cheap.

Also used RimTec refurbs http://www.rimtecrefurbs.co.uk/

Ask about their "special offers" 4 wheels, with a basic refurb, usually offered at a reduced fee.

Small outfit, no glitz, no glamour, but a decent job and a decent price too. I'll be going back to them when necessary.
