More Pain for Gamers :-(

But they are gonna launch the 3080 Ti and that will be so much better trying to get a hold of one of those.........:)

The amount of people raging at trying to get a 3080 and have cancelled that think they're just gonna grab one of these upcoming cards is funny. "I'll just wait for that to launch, stock will have increased...."

I'd be expecting similar wait again on top of the current shambles of a launch and to think this coming launch will fare any different I think you'd be a bit delusional.

I'd be expecting the same wait again on top of the current shambles launch. To think otherwise I think you'd be a bit delusional.

Looks like it. I was hoping that by Feb they would be starting to clear the problems, but it's looking like that's hopelessly optimistic.

3080's are still pretty damn hard to find but you can find 3060, 3070 and 3090's.

So stock is improving slowly, not sure when the prices will return to sane levels though.

A few places actually but can't say thanks to rules, sign up to a stock Discord and that takes most of the pain out of having to guess.

It's funny how the cards priced closest to msrp there's only ever 1 or 2 of them, but the cards listed at £600 plus there's usually a dozen or more. Last night i could have snagged a gigabyte 3070, or an asus tuf 3070. The gigabyte one was around £500 or so and the asus £620. Of course the gigabyte goes instantly and the tuf took about half an hour to sell out.

Still find it very very odd that the asus cards were listed by a uk site at 1:30am.

all the previous miners jumped to scalping when coins devalued, they are now going back to mining again since scalping is in the news spotlight lmao :D

Dont get where miners are buying cards anyway its difficult buying 1 let alone multiples with about all places only allowing one to be sold. Going to be like it a long time yet even without miners in the equation.

Not sure how they get loads of just 1 model but if my only goal was to mine since launch I could've bought loads and loads of various models by now new from retail. I've taken receipt of 4 while being super selective up until mid November. Nothing since as I'm happy with FE though. It can't be that difficult for them.

Who knows what goes on behind closed doors, wouldn't be hard for a miner to ring up and offer like 100k for so many GPUs and a retailer not refuse.;) after all why did gibbo stop selling 1 of his current biggest money makers. :D

Thanks OP, I didn't realise that I could be making money from my 3080 :D

I think the fella with ~80 cards paid well over msrp for them as they'll be making profit anyway after a few months.

Going by that pic of the Palit 3080 (all 78 of 'em) whoever bought them I reckon got then direct from Palit or the distributor, and that is gonna be the issue affecting gpu availability I reckon. These miners that are sucking gpus up at this level are big concerns who can turn around to any manufacturer and secure a good on bulk buying, hence that pic contains only one brand, palit?
Call me a cynic and I'll get me tin foil hat ready, but thats what I reckon is going on AND its gonna get worse, not stay the same or get better.

With a R7 2700 and a RX 5700 XT, it's become impossible not to consider 'what if' I took a break from gaming and sold my GPU (or maybe even the CPU) for the near retail prices I paid for them over a year ago, with the expectation the thaw will break suddenly and I'll be picking up a Ryzen 5800X and RTX 3080 at retail for a super low upgrade cost overall.

I think the 1080 Ti is the thing in my recent memory that's demonstrated the opportunity of the 'big win' premium gaming experience that just lasts and lasts beyond its expected lifetime.

Compared with those who got the 1080 Ti, everyone who went for a 1080 or 1070 were sold short (unless they're 1080p60 gamers, of which I'm not sure any consideration need be given).

On the other hand, those who went for a 2080 Ti became meme material within two years, while the 1080 Ti early adopters have had a premium gaming experience for what, 4 years? And will likely forever be applauded for their shrewd choice of GPU.

Going by that, I think we all want the next 1080 Ti, and certainly to avoid the meme cards that the 2080 Tis have become, or even the 2060 or original 2070. And most of our bets would be on the 3080 being 'that' GPU.

Not bad if your into it.

Mentioned this to @TNA after he silently scoffed at my mid-life crysis purchase! ;)

£4.90 a day worth of bitcoin? Is that running 24 hours? If so that's roughly £2.30 profit a day factoring in the cost of a 3090 and high end (5900/5950x) CPU mining (500W-ish)

I have to ask...what is the point? :D
