Mixing 2x4gb and 2x8gb

I know some people say they sell them in pairs for a reason but thought I would ask you guys.

I just brought myself some new ram, corsair lpx 16gb 3000mhz.

My old ram was corsair lpz 8gb 3000mhz.

Can I run both and have 24gb ram? Or will there be problems. Even if there isn't going to be probs, is 24gb of ram going to make any difference regarding games or editing..

I take it you have DDR4 ?

Yes 24gb is fine. For games 16gb seems to be the sweet spot nowadays but 8gb is still enough in most cases.
As for editing it depends what you are editing but I would say its probably a big yes.
Just be mindful that they might have different timings. Look on the ram will say something like

11-15-53-23-23

Ideally it should be all the same.

Yea the numbers are all the same. Does that mean technically it should be fine? If so I will use it now but try to sell it at the same time if it won't make kuchen difference.
