*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

@Gibbo

Curious, with Brexit in effect now what’s the story with Irish orders who ordered and paid their GPU orders back in like November in full.

Will we still get hit with a surprise VAT & Import Fees on a card over £800? That’d result in nearly an extra £200 at the door

Overclockers are vat registered in the Rep of Ireland so you won't have a vat bill but from what I seen on the Irish government revenue page goods that originated out side the UK and are sold on by a seller and is over €150 can be liable for import tax. Now I'm no expert but I'm fairly certain that will be the case. I stand to be corrected.

I have been sitting in the ASUS 3080 NON-OC queue from hour 1.

If someone was to tell me, that after waiting for nearly 5 months that I'd then have to pay an extra 25% on top to get what I ORDERED AND PAID FOR ALREADY then that really is taking the absolute ****

I've been almost £700 down for what will be half a bloody year soon, and you want to take more money off me in order to keep my place WAITING even longer? What the hell is this..
They're already slow sending out cards and are sending out OC cards much quicker.

If they pull this bs that they expect us to pay more after waiting months already I hope someone sues them, ASUS can get stuffed

So finally got my Strix OC yesterday, also got the email with the Watchdogs Legion promotion code that I thought had expired. Not sure if this got extended? Did anyone else get their code and try it?

My point with FE cards is not that they aren’t available at all, that quantities are so limited that they may as well be! They are there to provide a fig leaf sized cover for the supposed MSRP of the cards.

if you follow GamerNexus on YouTube you’ll see from his recent hardware news recap videos some of the challenges AIBs are facing.

The problem is that with AMD now competitive at the high end, at least when excluding ray tracing, nVidia either has to sacrifice its 60% margins and have cards widely available at or near MSRP, or push the costs onto AIBs to maintain their margins.

I dont know why so many defend the AIB's, the facts are simple, their cards have a unrealistic price premium over the FE cards.

I know some have stated nvidia make the bigger profit margin, well they should, they are the producer of the chip, all the AIB's do is put the component on a pcb, with capacitors using nvidia guidelines, and so are effectively a reseller, something would be seriously broken in the industry if an AIB made more profit than the chip producer.

Perhaps one of these youtubers should interview the asus ceo and ask him what part of the manufacturing process adds £300 to the card.

I think the problem is based around NVidia, they are selling the chips for too much which puts pressure on aib cards profit margins

I think thats a smokescreen.

Zotac cards have been going for circa £700 and FE's go for £650, are people claiming nvidia are deliberately selling their cards at a loss, and zotac have some kind of special deal?

The issue is they just want XX% margin on their products and are taking advantage of the short supply vs demand.

They are just not getting GPUs to build with it’s not an OCUK thing it’s a worldwide issue.

My advice is if anyone ever see a 3080 in stock anywhere simply buy it and then cancel your current back order as finding these cards in stock anywhere in the world is extremely difficult and near impossible.

My only worry is the most efficient mining cards are 3080 and 3060Ti so is it just a coincidence that those two cards are also the ones shipping in smallest volumes and hardly ever available? We’re seeing a lot more 3090 and 3070 shipments which are not as good for mining.

The 3080 situation is terrible we are still sat on thousands of backorders and many of which are from the first hour of the launch day and I’ve never ever witnessed anything like this in my twenty plus years in this industry, the supply is way down and as to why this is really is an unknown, is it because of mining, lack of yield rates, unprecedented demand, limited production ability or something else. I hope it’s one of the latter and not because of the surge in BTC values in the past three months.

Im trying to order 1000’s of cards and am literally getting 10-20’s and I’ve spoken to our group companies throughout the world and they are seeing nothing better volume wise and I’ve even talked to competitors who also claim the same and the fact that these cards are rarely ever in stock anywhere and you can’t place an a pre order anywhere really tells you that this is a serious issue.

I hope for one that NVIDIA, AMD and board partners put the focus now on clearing back orders and meeting demand rather than releasing further new products they can’t supply and making the issue somewhat worse.

@Gibbo thanks for your open honesty here, we need more to speak out as well.

Mine arrived too, no code though - I submitted a webnote.

Out of interest, did the code work?

Zotac is less popular than say asus, they can't get away with insane prices (in a perfect world no company would be).

Lets hope Asus have a lot of cards on the heads up. I ordered late on day 3 so still not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but @Gibbo with a torch with new updates! A lot more welcome than the endless darkness. @Gibbo, I really appreciate the effort you are putting in and recent transparency.

I'm waiting on that MSI Ventus wave, should anytime now... Or at least... A man can dream...
Same, my mouse pad arrives Wednesday so I can only pray that I get upgraded and shipped around then, but I’ve got to the point that a couple of days doesn’t rly matter to me, I just want to play Cold War lol
