Hi guys so I have found a ssd I want get its off ebay and they claim its brand new and never used... which I call bs lol but regardless, is there anything I need to know about it on first boot up, for example... if its running its working, or if its running you need to check the speed of it to ensure its running correctly? Since iam not very good with computers thought I would ask as I don't want to find out a problem down the road and can't return it as its been to long

Thanks guys I appreciate the help you all give me

Just use the manufacturers utility to check the drive health and how much data has been written to the drive.

Its very hard to use an SSD to the point were its significantly worn.

I would normally buy new though for the warranty. It'd have to be a good saving to make me want to go second hand.

What brand and model is the drive?

And how would I use the manufacturers utility thing ? Sorry I have no idea

It's a wd sn550 500gb. So nothing major but it'd in my price range. To buy it new I would have to wait and I am very impatient lol. + my partner being on furlough iam not sure when I could afford a new 1 as money is pretty tight atm

I dont think you can wrong then. Theyre only £55 new so don't pay over the odds.

Edit: Only £51 new.

well iam hoping I get it for 35.

Since that's jy Kimpton at the moment I can't really grumble as its that or a 256gb... which is useless lol

Just a question I guess you do, but if I clone my hdd to my new ssd. Can I still use both, storing less intense game on hdd and bigger games on sdd? I don't think u can but might aswel ask

Thats not a bad price. Yes you can clone your existing drive onto the new drive and then wipe the old drive to be used as a storage drive.

What motherboard have you got?

Clone your drive with macrum reflect reboot your pc and enter the bios. Select the new ssd as first boot option and reboot. Then when your in windows you can format you older ssd in disk management or ther software.

I have the ab350-gaming 3

Sorry for such a stupid question.. but cloning it will move over windows 10 yea ?

Yes - cloned SSD will be identical. I always keep 2 clones of different ages (e.g. windows versions) as an insurance, in case an OS "crashes" during an update for example.

I'd check the driver health and then do a secure erase. Personally I'd never get any used storage device because I'd rather pay that little bit extra to have the warranty and peace of mind
