*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

lol Chinese New Year is the next thing now to delay more cards, you couldn't write it.

why are they shutting down? even uk factories dont shut down for new year. at least not ones I worked at, maybe one day, but not for any sustained period. I am guessing they got some other holiday a few weeks after that for another shutdown as well.

It's not a bug. HMD's are rendered at a higher resolution than their panel to compensate for barrel distortion.
While 80% will work just fine, 100% does look better.

There is a bug, if you set it to 100%, it will be well above the G2's resolution, in fact it defaults to 150% to start with which is exceptionally high (res is shown), it was same for other HMD's before they adjust the default parameters in Steam VR for the Headset concerned.
You are correct in that the resolution at 100% (when values fixed) is higher than the screen res in order to compensate for the Lens distortion, the software's internal values for each headset need to be set correctly though for that to happen.

A week of the chinese new year is public holiday that's why they'll be shutting down :(

Why do you agree with me about lens distortion and then still say it's a bug. This is how it's supposed to work, it's supposed to be well above the panel resolution.
Do you think steam wouldn't have "fixed" this simple value setting if it was
Every other headset has a higher render resolution than the panel.

Again, not a bug.

Most likely your going to receive an overclocked card, Gibbo has been upgrading non oc guys for free because of Asus’ poor non-oc output

Only on 3070's mate - the 3080's that got upgraded was a 1 off for now as Gibbo had been told to expect Non-OC's and had told us that was what was comming, but OC cards turned up.

Not been on here for a few weeks can anyone update me on what the flying **** is going on with ventus cards. I’ve literally not moved in 2 months, have they been discontinued?!?

None expected, it's awful. They're still being produced but none from OCUK for months. 15.19 launch day order here, Christmas was ruined, on my own and without the ability to even play some games to pass the time as I'm on a barebones gpu.

TL;DR - AIB's are reporting to Gibbo that there is a severe lack of GPU's available for them to make any Graphics Cards at the moment, some are also saying other components/materials are scarce due to Covid Manufacturing shut downs and strains on Global shipping so certain cards/partners are more affected than others.

Holy smokes, unnamed main competitor seem to have cleared circa 1000 EVGA 3080 back orders (one way or another).

In that same time, from the information gleaned from various threads it seems OC have sent fewer than ten cards total.

Embarrassed for you lads and lasses. I really am.

Yeah I asked a question a couple of months ago - can't be bothered looking for the post, but the gist of it was - will we even get our launch day cards before they just go on general sale elsewhere? I was told I needed to catch myself on... well, that competitor has some popular models cleared now and only have have 614 total 3080's to supply, and they are in the process of offering upgrades/alternatives to the remaining people. I'd say they could be clear before the month is out or shortly after. I'm beginning to think I have more chance getting a card from them in a months time, than I do waiting on my launch day order turning up from here.
