This comparison and concept is a bit tiring now. Other than the FE, which is incredibly difficult for the masses to get hold of, please show me a 3080 which is selling for sub £700, perhaps even £750. People really need to stop comparing the current prices to what was seen at launch and the FE. Those launch prices are gone and will not be coming back in the near future. There is too much demand and too many global factors driving up the prices which reach consumers. If you need a card, then I'm afraid these are the prices we have to pay now. If you don't need a card and merely have an upgrade itch, then just wait it out, but it'll be a long wait.

Yep this is true. The only way to limit spread is do it by surprise. But then people who can't monitor forums all day will miss out. Its a no win situation.
But it worked, since those 3070 cards were available for quite some time, until traffic spiked up. This is positive farcry from what other sites do where stock goes within seconds

We are complaining because we are not looking for 3070 to buy, later, once other cards are introduced we who want those cards might have worse chance to get them
Our site can handle 10,000+ what it cannot handle if all say 3000 people all order the same product at once within 60s that causes issues and will break most websites, not just our site.
We still have 1000+ left so they shall be made available to order again once web traffic dies down.
The Asus TUF 3070 OC has sold out though, over 150 cards sold in two minutes.
Or just give up totally like me. I can't see this ever getting better again. It'll be exactly the same come the next generation of cards, they'll purposefully limit supply again, because why make loads of GPU's available with low margins, when you can sell just a handful with higher margins, and make just as much, if not more money.

We have a lot of UK users, the irony is I've prob helped Gibbo with his sales. As the prices aren't great at all. But I know there are a lot of desperate people after a GPU still and will pay it. I gain nothing out of it.
We have less than 2k people tracking 3070 stock. A bunch are from EU so can't order anyway. Then there is the fat chunk who will not even bother due to the price, or just not actively monitoring Discord for alerts anyway. So I don't think it's causing any issues, when OcUK say 3k people is causing issues on a product page.
There are already 3k+ people online this forum right now (forum guests is 2300 of that) - so I don't think discord alerts are having much if any impact on OcUK's website traffic (at least from our discord anyway). Again just a clear example of the fact this is a public forum, and our server will be doing sod all to the web traffic. It'll be shared in other places with much higher volumes like HUKD or larger servers/communities with less good intentions.

You can see here that I was plenty quick enough if I wanted a 3070, but I don't....
I know Gibbo want well and he's trying but there's simply no stopping it. As Sparx said many times - this is open forums, any person or bot can read it even without account. It's very safe to assume bots are scanning it for links and no matter what Gibo does, it will instantly be reposted all over the internet. Sparx is the person who actually openly said what he does and why but removing him and his Discord won't change anything - it will still be posted all over the internet instantly and bots will still be all over any good GPU posted. Blame game helps nobody and it won't even make you feel any better, so there's no sense to it at all.
I don't think there's any good solution for that. Possibly just mentioned earlier raffle of sorts and let the dice decide who is "worthy" this time.
