Just FYI: graphics cards and other components are subject to a 21% import duty into Ireland. So even if you had a parcel forwarding service or whatever, you’ll still have to pay an extra 21% once it gets here. There’s no exemption, unfortunately.

That puts the pricing into completely unaffordable for me: at what’s listed so far, most of these cards will end up costing well over €900. No GPU is worth that much unless its for actual work.

I may be mistaken here: the rates I found were VAT rates. It may be the case that Ireland won’t have to pay import duties on computer components originating outside of the EU. But, there have been users of this forum who’ve had to pay 21% in customs on arrival - this may be an error or may be legitimate. Just not sure at this stage.

It is what it is tho, but if you really want it you’d pay for it. It just sucks todays release will only be delivering to uk mainlands.

Why is there a 21% tariff?

Double-VAT? OCUK should/could be shipping to EU countries (inc. Ireland) without the UK VAT (Export) and then VAT would be charged at 21% on arrival in Ireland (and maybe 4% duty too). Thanks Brexit! :(

I had to pay 21% to customs on a keyboard from Taiwan recently - I’ll see if I can dig up the details. It fit the VAT rate that I found. I’ll get back to you when I find the receipts.

As far as the Revenue website is concerned, the UK is treated the same as any other non-EU country in terms of how rates are calculated, and it says on the Revenue website that VAT is owed on all goods over €150.

Probably most of OcUK business is UK and not Ireland and EU. So there not enough to cater for it. Some of us have been OcUK members a long time, which is unfortunate. But we are used to it.

Not relevant to OcUK. But in general I expect a lot of UK - Ireland trade will shift to EU - Ireland over the next 12 months. They are increasing ferries between Ireland and France. Supply issues will ease. Other than by those impacted by Covid.

What I am not sure on is how Gibraltar has been excluded if it is linked to the United Kingdom and not really affected by the Brexit elements?

I frequently order from the UK and DHL has had no issues delivering from UK to Gibraltar. If this is something that could be clarified? I cannot see myself ordering, paying VAT, then paying VAT locally again :(

Seems to be a handy excuse for cheap nasty couriers to avoid Islands and Northern Ireland too. I send a lot of stuff to the mainland. It doesn't cost me anymore to ship. It's been an issue for years on eBay. Union Flag but won't post to Northern Ireland?

I don't use sellers who use this excuse.

So are they delivering to Northern Ireland or not? Trading standards might have something to say if they're advertising delivery to UK and Ireland and excluding Northern Ireland which actually fits both those categories. Border in the Irish Sea is illegal anyway so everyone in the UK should simply ignore it.
