Anyone gone from a 3090 to 6900XT?

can you buy one from ocuk at msrp? sure you can get them retail if you want to spend all day watching feeds etc whos got time for that? you guys all deflecting from the point, where you can get a 3090 at infalted prices 1800+ its not worth it as theres single digits in it. even at mrsp is it worth it? defend what you want but all of the tech press disagrees with you and most of the tech industry follows those guys. allot of the people who brought the 3090 in that thread likely did so before the 6900 came along which makes sense, or are die hard nvidia only people. you cant present facts and figures to people who dont want to believe the truth. :)

i'm defecting from a 3090 to a 6900xt, the games i play there is little to no diffrence between the 2, most games i play max out the frame buffer at 12-13gb so for the 3090 the extra 11gb or so is doing nothing, sure its nice having all that performance but the power requirments for me are just too high now, 380-411w just for the card is stupid when the 6900xt can run 250-320w for almost the same performance, and i'd be using more of the amd card vs the 3090 i have.

the problem for me is the 3090 fe is always hitting power limit which makes the card downclock is some instances to it boost of 1770mhz or so which at 4k does hurt the cards performance, thats with a waterblock attached, i'd rater take on amd's offerings and get lower power draw and almost same performance as the 3090

At the high end single digit improvements do sell cards. Plenty of enthusiasts had Titan RTX and that was single digit over 2080Ti. But agreed that if it was only 5-10% faster than 6900XT in normal raster with no other benefits and for so much more money, a lot of people would hesitate. RT and DLSS are important to the package. The general consensus of the 'tech industry' and 'tech press', not really matters, is that the 3090 is the superior choice for the high-end. That's true even for sites like Hardware Unboxed that have plenty of animosity with Nvidia but still said the 3090 is overall better package in their 6900XT review (but didn't recommend buying either).

end of the day you buy what you want to use, both cards have fantasic performance, good and bad points, basically buy for what you want to use it for :)

people need to listen to people like you who have used both cards. that's who i would listen to if i was the Op. :)
i wouldnt personally buy a card for £500 extra for single digit fps improvements.

Haha no deflection going on. At MSRP the 6900XT is better value no doubt about it unless you need RT and DLSS.

However as everybody is trying to tell you and which you seem to be ignoring is that the 3090FE is available at MSRP you don't need to sit watching feeds you simply setup your alert when it pings you have plenty of time to logon and buy it. For one of the drops it was available for over 2 hours easily enough time to purchase.

Now lets look at the 6900XT a handful of reference stock on launch day and the reference never to be seen again at MSRP, infact I have never seen the 6900XT available at MSRP since its launch. All cards including reference at over £1200 which is too close to the 3090 considering the 3090 has superior performance in most games at 4k and includes RT and DLSS if you are looking for those features.

not according to the 3090 thread. i posted a reply about it a few post back. i posted 2 links where you can buy both cards. even at mrsp £500 gap. sorry but imo its not worth an extra £500. inflated or not inflated.

You are completely ignoring what has been said. You CAN NOT buy the 6900XT at MSRP, not since launch whereas the 3090FE can be bought for MSRP as there are regular drops that are easy to secure with a simple alert.

If both were available at MSRP (i.e AMD sort their **** out and start supplying cards directly from their site) then absolutely the 6900XT is better value but currently the only reference cards available are too close price wise to the 3090.

However if everything was in stock available at MSRP then you would be a fool to buy either of them as the 6800XT is a great card that will overclock to the same as a 6900XT

Think you’re wasting your breath on him TBH.

I waited for the 6900XT launch to try and buy one on day one, unsuccessfully. Weighed up the pro’s and con’s and then went and bought a 3090FE at the first time of asking, about 9 days later.

Sure I’ve paid an extra £200 over the current 6900XT pricing but the 3090FE is better built IMO, performs as well as if not better in most things, has more VRAM than I know what to do with, and has RTX and DLSS, something AMD as yet do not.

Not sure what that guy is going on about but he sounds a bit bitter for some reason.

I fully intended to go full AMD this cycle but their availability for what I wanted has been even more farcical than Nvidia’s this time.

My 5950X will be turning up shortly but it’s going to have to partner a 3090FE this gen whether it likes it or not!

Exactly, in fact most 6900xt are at the same price as the 3090.

And as has been mentioned countless times before, the 6800xt is faster than the 6900xt so you'd be silly to get the 6900xt anyway unless you enjoy have a slower card that cost you way more. And 6900xt resale will be poor because it's slower than the 6800xt

just cause they did it doesn't not make it stupid

Plus, they probably lost some money just to get a slower card - can't even beat a 6800xt

And that single image is meant to prove something? You really are scraping the barrel when it comes to posting your team green spiel.

I got my 3090 FE for £1399, Nvidia have partnered with an OC rival so just keep checking Nvidia Store for stock as I did and stock was there for at least 2 hours (could have been longer but I did not see it till later).

I paid for the card via PP at 12:10am Friday morning (2 weeks ago) without signing up to the partner store (so no account) and had the invoice via email 2mins later and COD-BO-CW game code 5mins later and card on Sunday afternoon.

Ok then. Tell you what let's let the op decide if the extra 500 at mrsp is worth it hell you can buy an OEM 6900 cheaper than a retail 3090. But sure justify yourself away to me.

So you couldnt get one but the 3090 is built better. How do you work that out since you couldn't get one how would you know?
Im not bitter about anything, I don't want eithe card. I'm just curious why people spread bs about the 3090 being a quicker card when it's not and it's clearly more expensive. Spin it however you want but all of you Nvidia try hards are talking complete nonsense.

Why cant you just post without the bias it's a GPU for Christ sake.

We've had members in this very post swap from 1 to the other stating there is no difference between them rtx aside. Most people. Cannot get them at mrsp as people have lives and can't watch a site 24.7. this leaves none Fe versions at vastly inflated prices on both sides.
