Hi everyone,

I have put a list of the PC i intend to build (joining the queue for a GPU) and I was hoping someone could just check on my parts compatibilty. I think its all ok but Id like a more experienced eye on it. Iv included the case and fans. The main purpose of the build is for gaming and for the running of mulitple vms.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-3cb-am.html
Gigabyte x570 Aarus Pro https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...4-x570-chipset-atx-motherboard-mb-57v-gi.html
Corsair Hydro Series ICUE H100I Elite capellix RGB Performance liquid cpu cooler 240mm https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...id-cpu-cooler-240mm-cw-9060046-hs-040-cs.html
Corsair Vengeance Rgb pro black 32gb https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cors...zen-tuned-ddr4-memory-dual-kit-my-4ck-cs.html
WD 1tb Sn850 ssd https://www.overclockers.co.uk/wd-b...-solid-state-drive-wds100t1x0e-hd-57h-wd.html
2tb Barracuda hdd 7200RPM (extra storage) https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seag...nternal-hard-drive-st2000dm008-hd-3a5-se.html
Asus Geforce rtx 3070 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-450-as.html
Creative Sound Blaster X AE-5 RGB https://www.overclockers.co.uk/crea...aming-sound-card-70sb174000000-sc-104-cl.html
Phanteks sk140 Black 140mm fan https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-sk140-black-drgb-pwm-fan-140mm-fg-02g-pt.html
Phanteks Eclipse P400 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-eclipse-p400-air-midi-tower-drgb-case-black-ca-09g-pt.html

I know its a bit RGB heavy but I fancy a bright build. Currently have good quality 144hz monitor but its only Full HD, would i benefit from an upgrade? If there are anyways I can improve the build Id appreciate the feedback. Any recomendations on good quality chair would also be great!

Many thanks

Of your wanting Aorus board. Save some cash with B550 Aorus Elite AC V2 for £140/50 or B550 Master for £230 and is pro one of the best designed b550/X570 boards

Thanks for the input. Could you please explain a bit about the difference between the x570 and B550? Is it just the type of chipset? I have seen the need to update the BIOS on B550 motherboards to work with 5000 series processors, is this correct?

B550 will work straight away. It's a lessor chipset . So can't handle as many PCIe 4.0 m.2. that's why I linked the b550 master as it can handle 3 if you wanted an Aorus board (UK repair ) . MSI x570 Toma is also a solid board too.

X570 may need an update but easy to do.

If going Corsair, might want to go 4000 X with its RGB fans matching the AIO

Thats great thanks, I have had a look at the B550s, i think the B550 master is now a solid option.
With regards to the case and AIO, would you recommend changing the single fan to a Corsair fan also? Are different brand RGB incompatiable with each other? (Sorry quite new to RGB)

Many thanks

Also, 3070 is over powered for your monitor ... 1440p is a worth while upgrade. Might actually think about 3060 or 3060ti if you want to keep current monitor .

Example

I believe the AIO and Case come with a controller in them , in theory have two.. but they use the same software. If going phanteks, you'd have to run off the motherboards own software .

Most brands can run off the same cable but Corsair , it's their own ecosystem

*** That Aorus 3070 is costly but huge , and 4 yr warranty helps, just a shame all pricing and stock is hard to get !

Thats great advice thanks! I might take the saving on the motherboard and invest in the monitor, tho 32" might be took big for my desk (hmmmmm new desk) as i run two monitors.
With regards to the case, the Phanteks one says it has a mesh front for air flow whilse the Corsair is tempered glass, does this make a massive difference to cooling?
Thanks for all your help

Mesh will always be better ! Corsair actually have an airflow version of the 4000.... But doesn't come with ARGB.

Could in theory grab 360 AIO version and add to the 4000D Airflow at the front. But cards like the Aorus, surprisingly being one of the shortest is 320mm so might clash in the small case

Worth checking out 27" 1440p range

I will most definatly be looking at new monitor, i can always downgrade my current one to my 2nd screen.
Really sorry, but regarding the corsair case, if the front is tempered glass are the fans behind it more for show as they wouldnt be getting much cool air? Would u always put an exhaust fan on the back of the case or could u put an intake on the back and use the top of the case as an exhuast and move the AIO rad to the front or am i way off here?

Many thanks

There's an air gap at the sides . Corsair 5000 had more airflow but also bigger and more costly !

Thanks for all the help, i managed to get a gpu thanks to this thread tonight! Many Many thanks

they are good fans but £££

corsair software will be able to detect the different model fans and control the light for all ( some corsair have dual lighting on one fan etc)
